Sombrasal

More myth now than anything else, the Court of Sombrasal was once a powerful empire that held dominion over many tribes and alliances within Nabare. According to legend, the Sombrasal were descended from a band of duplicitous Zabax many millenia ago that were subverted by Daemons. Given the gifts of beauty, intelligence, and shape-shifting magic, they became the Sejeva. Using these new gifts, they were able to infiltrate and subjugate tribes one by one, building a wealth of power in terms of warriors, slaves, and likely sacrifices.
Ultimately, the Arch Prior (whose name is lost to memory) was defeated, and most of their vassals defeated or escaped. Thanks predominantly to the prophetic sages of the Anyaku, the “Children of Poison” were defeated, and effectively banished to obscurity in the dark depths of the Viperknot Veil. The majority of their great cities and religious shrines were destroyed or buried beneath the jungle
But, despite attempts at complete conquest, fragments of the court remain. Small cities and underground warrens harbor petty despots and cults, each vying for control over the diminishing ruins of a once great empire. Others seek to build secret allegiances with and within the encroaching Imasi as well as the Anyaku, and slowly peel away their nobility from within. With ever generation, the myth of the Sombrasal grows, even as their territory dwindles, as many fear the invasion from within has already happened.
