Mystral Ysbarre (mist-ruhl ee-bare)

Though she will speak pridefully of her position as an artissere, the realities of Drossus lurk nebulous beneath any accomplishment. Mystral’s entire life, as far back as she can remember, has been one of indentured service to others. A natural aptitude for quick mastery left her path determined by her keepers before she was even old enough to understand what it meant.
Her earlier years were allotted to learning the basic skills of service, during which she spent a significant amount of time in the neighboring Duskryn home; an offering of entertainment for their two children. An inordinately altruistic family, the Duskryns treated her well during her visits, and the days with young Aurèlie served to become a pleasant haven for young Mystral.
Auberée, however, does not waste talent undeveloped. Mystral was sent away; sold forward to the next stage of assessment. By the age of fourteen she had acquired a full truebonded tattoo, the promise of her worth sealed.
From that moment the education Auberèe was known for continued in earnest. She was sent to study the skills every artissere was known for; dance; music; performance; art; etiquette; discretion; seduction and pleasure. All artissere are considered low-key spies—the procurers and traffickers of information—and it is not undeserved. Lessons in listening; extracting; directing. As expected, she excelled.
She was sold through several houses within Auberèe, gaining prestige, proving her worth as an artissere greater with each passing year. It seemed inevitable that the Rook of Drossus eventually took particular interest in Mystral’s abilities together with her… more-than-brazen personality. The price Talice paid was high, but with her connections and personal training Mystral fell into the ranks of some of the most expensive artissere in Drossus.
No more was she sold on to gain skill or put through trials to build her value. A spoiled pet, some muttered—but a position well-earned. She was given the freedom to roam wherever Ysbarre was settled, her appointments few but lucrative.
In time Mystral encountered Aurèlie Duskryn and the two rekindled some small relationship, Aurèlie one day confiding some difficulties for the Duskryn House. They requested Talice loan her to the Duskryn family, serving in the capacity of advisor and assistant in the advancement of Aurèlie’s station, and the Quasharess indulged them.
When Aurèlie finally managed to connect with her brother, Guerin, she requested Mystral recover and escort him from the place which he would arrive, not wishing to tip-off her parents to her intentions.
In the town of Hul, Mystral had her first meeting with the wayward drosni male (now calling himself Grendan), who within his home-plane appeared only to yearn for the overland whence he came—though he tried well to cover it up. Unusual in manner and indeed with a clear distaste for his culture of origin, Guerin’s arrival—she could predict—would herald some overturning amidst the Duskryn household.
How small her premonition in comparison with what was truly to come.
