Anyaku
The Anyaku are the ancestral victors of the ancient titan wars, and the uncontested imperial sovereigns of the continent. Originating from the northern mountains, the Anyaku Protectorate are inhabited primarily by the prideful Kekai - a birdlike race gifted with the power of flight. Due to their mastery of air power thousands of years ago, the Anyaku were able to establish a bulwark against the most aggressive forces of the ancient Daemons, and later were able to thoroughly resist the attempted subjugation of the Titans after the Age of Ruin.
Undefeated, the Anyaku have since spread their influence over Nabare, and proclaimed themselves the sovereign defenders of all Midja. At their height, they commanded armies of millions, and wielded their power to resist their biggest rivals, the Sombrasal, as well as insurgent detractors and self-described criminals. Since that time, though, the Anyaku have ebbed and flowed in their control over the land, though they have maintained several traditions unbroken through the milenia.
Pax Achik
The Anyaku derive their supremacy off of their aeriel prowess, as well as their sacred divinations. Much of their ability to foresee future obstacles and problems allows them to command a vast empire that has remained cohesive through the millennia. The Anyaku operate on a form of planned central economy - whereby the overall governance of the empire is dictedated by the Achikai and the Sutanari (Convocation of Stars) [Quachaska]. The Sutanari are thought to see beyond the veil of time, and serve as the central planners of an empire. Such divination is not perfect, nor is it claimed to be - yet it is considered superior to any other form of governance, and has been heralded for the defeat of the daemons, the titans, the sombrasal, as well as other scattered disasters over the millenia. The Sutanari
The lives of the Sutanari are those of sheltered privilege - membership is random, born as gift found amongst the populace, these diviners are sought and sequestered. There, they (and any family they wish) are cared for in quiet bliss high within the skyshield mountains. Their only commandment - to read the stars and convey the future to the Achikaki. After centuries of religious teaching, few question the calling of the Sutanari - to go to the convocation is a noble calling. In addition to the Sutanari’s many duties, they are the group responsible for selecting the Achikaki, within whom all power of the empire is vested. Due to the trust placed within the Sutanari, the Achikaki is a ruler who is largely considered ‘beyond reproach’. And, for as long as history is known, no Achikaki is considered to have been corrupted, by either ambition or influence. The Achikaki is considered to be greater than a mere mortal, though not quite so defied that they are infallible. The supposed failures in judgement made by the Achikaki are supposedly small, and considered within the scope of the Sutanari’s vision. As such, the Sutanari’s reputation remained resilient enough at avoiding catastrophe such that mistakes and failures in the empire have been tolerated despite the damage suffered. To date, the Achikaki has always been a kekai, though the Sutanari state that this is not a mandate. Once questioned on this matter, the Sutanari are heard to have said “In time, all people of the light shall bear witness to the message of the stars. Yet, in this time, that message remains safest under the wings of the sky.” Unsurprisingly, those outside the Anyaku hold some skepticisms about the Sutanari’s professed ‘neutrality’.The Sun Prince
While the Achikaki is considered near sacred, along with the Sutanari, the Sun Prince is merely the highest title any mortal can hold within the empire. While the Anyaku have promoted non Kekai to significant positions (even to that of the Sutanari), no such ancestry has ever had the title of Intaiqaylli. The Sun Prince is a position appointed by the Achikaki, and serves as the de facto ruler over much of the empire. They are tasked with converting the revelations and commandments of the Achikaki into actionable policy. While the Achikaki are technically the head of state, and embody the spirit of the Anyaku, it is the Intaiqaylli that wields most political power within the empire. Ideally, the Sun Prince are figures of noble hearts and pure of spirit. However, the Sutanari have claimed that in certain times, the skills of a more contentious soul may have served a better purpose, despite the periodic failures that occurred under their explicit or implicit directions. Below the Intaiqaylli are the Ikamu, or “little moons”. The Ikamu serve as the regional governors over the Anyaku empire, and direct their functionaries and nobles. The title of such nobles was hereditary, but the duties and responsibilities could be changed by their superiors as needed.
