Chapter 9: The Crumbling Ruin

He thrusts his fists against the posts And still insists he sees the ghost.

General Summary

This horrifying revelation shakes the group to their core, as their new friend had betrayed them for some dark master. The smoke begins to fill their lungs as they flee the charred corpse of Mistral City in the night. Peculiar sheds a tear as his home is destroyed once again, but this time his new allies are here to comfort him in this trying time. The party decides to investigate for survivors as Peculiar departs for Verigans Hold to see if The Templars know anything about what is happening. Soon after Luna  hears an ear-shattering scream coming from a collapsing fortress just outside of the city walls. Heading inside, the party hears strange chanting and scraping coming from deeper within. Their travels are halted by undead covered in rotting flesh who ambush the group with swords drawn. Being able to take them down with ease they continue to follow the chanting as it gets louder and louder. A familiar face awaits as Reverend John is before them holding a strange torn piece of paper. The ensuing battle is tough as John's form continues to slowly heal after every attack, but Razor rips his head from his body in one quick movement leaving only a twitching corpse on the floor. The paper seems to be a fragment of a map charting an expedition beyond The Wall. Without the guidance of Old Peculiar, they escape the fortress and head north, looking for some answers. Soon finding a small dwarven market known as The Dreadnaughts Forge and hearing about some strange occurrences happening in the city of Stoneholm. Soon they realize Kay- Ron and possibly the rest of the group are being hunted by a green armored clad mercenary group going by the name of The Malechites. Just barely able to avoid detection, the group decides to head north to the coast and avoid the city of Kirkwall altogether to a small town near the mysterious floating islands. Currently, the town of New Salmont is being visited by the traveling Carnival de Banjo, which is run by a man named Mr. Banjo whos constant smile makes everyone very uncomfortable. Luna and Kay- Ron get their fortune told by Madam Nebescu for a small sum of gold, while Razor signs up to get a second chance against Strongman Bruno
