Chapter 15: The Parting of Ways

General Summary

Deciding it best to return to Stoneholm the party heads on their way and once again see the towering dwarven statues. While waiting for the guard captain to return a Templar comes bearing a letter from Edward "Old' Peculiar say that he is unable to meet them there. When the guard return to the front gate he says he cannot let them in but there is a Kobold with a ship they can use to cross the lake. Meeting with Golden Claw the Kobold they are able to gain access to his ship, with the help of intimidation, and cross the lake. Arriving on the other side the see Golden Claw hastily writing a letter and after some interrogation, they find he is an informant to Scales and he was reporting directly to him. So the party promptly murders him, as the bird returns with another note for Kay- Ron. Now knowing where to meet the contact they head to the tavern by the name of The Vipers Den and meet the man in charge, Targoroth. He tells them the plan to break into the Records Room inside Kirkwall and destroy certain files to have Kay Ron be free of this burden. He also needs the key in the commissioners office which is to his wife's restraining collar, this particular collar restricts the use of magic and is primarily used for slaves in Halamshiral. The dwarf by the name of Bianca leads the party in through the abandoned city underneath Kirkwall which takes them up just under the Records building. The party sneaks in and has a full-on brawl with the guards and grab the files before reinforcements came. Sabrina  learns of the return of a person from her past and desires not to go back to The Viper's Den, so her and Luna head off. Kay- Ron and Razor  make their way back to Targoroth and give him the key to his wife's restraining collar so he could set her free of her slavery. 
And with that Kay Ron is free of his bounty once and for all, but with an unknown assassin and Scales out there, is the party really safe?

The Letter from Old Peculiar  “I hope you all are well; I have spent my time traveling along the wall searching for more information. Additionally, I have been reading my father's journal which is the topic of this letter. Reading deeper into the journal reveals more about this strange cult. My father tells the tale of their exploits to travel into the desert through their reasoning is unknown. Additionally, we finally have a name for the cult, The Cult of Israphel . Sadly, that is all I have to report, my father's journal is heavily encrypted which takes time to decipher. Stay safe out there friends. I know I said I would try to meet you at Stoneholm but I have been waylaid. -EP
