Session 9

General Summary

Overview:

After fast travelling to the city of Ta Rel with the help of Quinten Happyjoy Jr, the party entered the oasis capital of Morah with ambitions of entering the Tournament of Power.

Notable Things That Happened:

• Two new adventurersjoined the party. Sir Arthur Mernick temporarily left the party to visit his old companion, known as the Wolves of Mars.
• The party was ambushed by a group of bandits while trying to buy some shagga in the back alleys of Ta Rel. The party defeated all the bandits and tied up their leader. They then took the leader’s engraved rapier before pushing him into the city’s poop shoot.
• The party travelled to Wolves of Mars' headquarters where they met a giant man known as Threetrees. Threetrees was an old friend of Arthur's and the newly appointed leader of the Wolves of Mars. He gladly allowed the party to represent his companion in the tournament as a favour to Arthur.
• Threetrees recommended the party gain favour with the wealthiest man in Bethos, Quinten Happyjoy Sr. This is because during the tournament, wealthy citizens can sponsor fighters with gifts.
• The party met with Quinten Happyjoy Sr and he told them that this year, he is only going to sponsor the companion that finds an engraved ruby ring he hid somewhere in the city.
• The party followed clues that led them across Ta Rel looking for the ring. First they went to the city's theatre where a rendition of “The Tragedy of Prince Julius” was being performed, then to a shoddy tavern in the back alleys, before finally finding the ring in a cave connected to the sewers below Ta Rel.
• Wanting to return the ring to Quinten Happyjoy Sr, the party resurfaced and noticed a commotion in Ta Rel. From what the party could gather, a band of infamous criminals was about to be apprehended by a brave warrior. The party had been hearing rumours of the criminals all day so they decided to check them out.
• The party followed the commotion to the theatre and saw Fenris the Feared making an announcement. He singled out the party as the criminals and called on Gorm to perform a ritual that would defeat them. Gorm emerged with a piece of Lorvoril’s clothing and performed a ritual on it that began erasing Lorvoril from existence.
• An intense fight broke out that hinged on the party stopping Gorm's ritual and saving Lorvoril. To begin, Gorm berated the party with vicious attacks while Fenris attempted to keep the piece of clothing away from them. All the while the crowd, who believed the party to be terrifying criminals, threw anything they could find at the party from the sidelines. This dynamic continued until Gorm , who was looking for a hidden Lorvoril, began wildly slashing through the crowd with his executioner's axe. With each kill Gorm grew in strength and a panic began breaking out amongst the spectators. After Gorm's powerup the party was close to being defeated, and Lorvoril was even closer to being erased from existence, but with no time to spare Immeral was able to stop the ritual using the remove curse spell. Lorvoril was saved and with one final push the party managed to defeat Gorm once again.
• Shortly after defeating Gorm , Big Simba appeared with two colleagues ready to fight. After learning Gorm had already been defeated, he introduced his colleagues as Black Dow and Freyja. They are two of the Chieftains of Morah along with Big Simba. With a thankful tone, the chieftains invited the party back to their meeting hall to discuss what happened.
• The party followed hoping for a reward, but was interrupted by a flaming portal that appeared out of thin air. On the other side was Tharkokath, who yanked Immerial through while simply stating “I need to use you… and bring your friends”. Not wanting to abandon Immerial, the party entered the portal… Hopefully they will return alive to reap the rewards of this adventure.
