Meetings of the Gods

History

It is unknown how or when these meetings began, only that they occur on every full and new moon and have for thousands of years.

Execution

During a meeting, Shia and Mora gather themselves and the major gods at Limbo's Crossing, said to be the closest place on the planet one can physically get to Limbo, the afterlife, to discuss the fate of the world and observe the roots of fate and its branches.

Participants

The meetings between the gods are always led by Shia, the God of Death and Mora, The God of Life. Generally, all of The Major Gods will be present unless there is an urgent pressing matter that requires their full immediate attention.   These meetings are not mandatory for any god, unless specifically summoned by Shia and Mora, who will send a priest in their place. If a god tries to avoid the meeting when summoned, they are automatically chosen among the gods shirking their duties at the New Moon meeting, a heavy threat meant to keep them from avoiding it, though still some gods will try.   Often, the heirs of gods attending are present at these meetings as way of training them to one day take over the position. Rarely are Demigods themselves allowed to attend, unless in the cases of gods who have not chosen an heir or those who are extraordinarily involved in their parent's duties.

Observance

These meetings take place on the most hallowed and sacred ground in the world. Limbo's Crossing, particularly during a meeting, is sacred, neutral territory where even the most hated of enemies are forbidden from fighting and no god, no matter how powerful, outranks one another's word. This is enforced by Shia and Mora themselves, but their intervention means little outside of this place and does nothing to stop gods form attacking each other once again the moment they leave.

Full Moon Meetings

On the Full Moon, the meetings are held to determine which gods are not fulfilling their duties and must pass the role on to their heir. The gods attending are the major gods, and any minor gods who are acting unsatisfactory. Any god chosen is allowed to carry out their last wishes and prepare for their death until the new moon. These gods are voted upon by the majors, including Shia and Mora. They also determine at these meetings the next selection of gods for the next meeting with all others attending, who are granted immunity from being chosen again, as to give them time to improve. This is not always the case that a god will be killed, but used to keep the minor gods in line and from shirking their duties. More often than not, just the threat of so keeps them in line.

New Moon Meetings

On the New Moon, the god chosen on the full moon meeting will pass, and their power passed to their heir, making them a fully fledged god. New Moon meetings are open to all gods, and used as a celebration of the newly fledged god and also for treaties, politics, and the exchange of priests and prisoners between the gods. Gods may also bring their priests and heirs to these meetings, to train them for their duties. During these meetings, the gods may also bargain with Shia and Mora.

Reading The Root of Fate

The Root of Fate, The Roots, or simply 'Fate' and reading of such is done at every meeting, primarily for Shia and Mora to check on the status of the world and its future to ensure their primary goals, the continuity of the cycle of life and death, are able to be met. This allows the gods to see the future and how their actions shall impact the world at large. Aside from Shia and Mora, this is the only time the other gods are able to see fate itself. Not just the future become visible, however, as the past is shown as well, particularly useful in determining the failures of gods during the Full Moon meetings.   This allows for the gods to make decisions regarding wars, negotiations, boons, and other critical events that may come to pass, allowing them to fulfill their duties as well, no matter how minor they may seem.
