Ancient - The Settlement at the Base of the World Tree

Ruins or remains of something that puts into context how much time has passed, and how long time is.
The 'horror' or 'creepiness' stems from how astronomically ancient something is, yet still has a presence.
This could occur in a few ways, though i quite like the idea of showing just how young humanity is.
The Root of the "World Tree" - in Var Nexa is the oldest settlement humanity has found, as far as we're aware it may be the first settlement ever. However it is built in/on/as a part of the Roots of the "World Tree." The houses were built to be attached to the roots, but were originally on the ground. However by the modern age they have been elevated into the air - with odd features like paths that are in tact but lead no where (becuase thier destination was the ground, which they no longer reach). This gives the sense that, despite how old the buildings are, the Tree has been growing for a near unmeasurable time longer.
