Munasimuna

Qualifications

Scions of the imperial receive some of the finest education in the known world. They learn how to read and write, history, mathematics, rhetoric, and military strategy. In addition to academic pursuits, they learn to shoot a bow, ride a horse, and wield a spear. These skills, and others, are necessary to rule arguably the world’s most powerful empire.

Requirements

A prospective Munasimuna must belong to the Satri imperial family and be able of body and mind. Most often, the previous Munasimuna is succeeded by his son, but any male relative could potentially succeed him - provided they are the most closely related to the previous ruler.

Appointment

A Munasimuna typically appoints a successor before he dies. Once he dies, an elaborate funeral is held, and the emperor’s remains laid to rest in the (insert the name for the tomb built from stones) in a towering stone structure built especially for them. After a five day cleansing period, the new Munasimuna attends his coronation. He is ceremonially bathed, dons a purple robe, ascends the throne in the Hall of Ascension. Priests offer the new monarch whipped sour milk topped with flakes of gold and a piece of dried goat meat. These food items serve to remind him of the luxurys of civilization and the rugged circumstances of his nomadic ancestors. The highest official in the Satri government declares him the Munasimuna.   The Munasimuna’s authority comes from several sources. First is the divine, as Narsadas and his descendants are blessed by the god (insert god name here). Next, their authority comes from the right of conquest, as each emperor annexed more land into the empire. Third, the Satri granted their subject peoples the right to maintain their cultures and practice their religions without intervention is seen as a fatherly generosity. The relatively hands-off approach of governing does little to damage the Munasimuna’s authority because they can always bring their armies down on rebellious subjects.

As the ruler of a vast empire, the Munasimuna is required to make several important decisions, such as declaring war and determining what he would consider foreign policy.
