Halfling
Halflings are little more than whispered myths, spoken of by travelers who claim to have seen small folk dwelling in hidden vales and mist-covered glens. Unlike Humans, they are said to shun the weight of kings and priests, living in secret places where time flows strangely and the burdens of the world hold no sway.
Some believe they are a dwindling race, older than men yet forgotten by history, while others dismiss them as superstitions, no more real than a child’s bedtime tale. But those who have wandered too far from the roads at dusk tell of distant laughter in the hedgerows, warm firelight glimpsed in hollowed hills, and unseen hands leaving gifts at lonely doorsteps.
Whether spirit, fairy, or simply forgotten kin, Halflings remain unbound by the world’s march, and perhaps that is why they are still free.
