Gubru currency is based on the Gold Daric = 1D. A Silver Siflos = 0.05D. Upon establishing an oceanic empire, metallic coinage gave way to a shell currency, still based on the Daric. Shells worth are proportional to color on the ROYGBIV spectrum. White = 0.05D. Red=0.10D. Orange=0.25D. Yellow=0.5D. Green=1D. Blue=10D. Indigo=100D. Violet=1000D.
Larger denominations can be created by joining multiple shells together on wire or cord.
Magic has evolved to accept this if a material component is needed of a specific value, if the exact component is not available.
In addition to currency shells, alphanumeric shells encoding /2 used for messaging, establishing credentials, official identification, and badge of office.
Knoll currency: Will use found currency. Also mint their own coins. Gold, Silver, Copper. Purity subpar, worth is no more than half standard. Some tribes adulterate coins with lead; those are worth 25%.
