Stratos
Stratos, the Elemental Plane of Air, is a boundless, skybound expanse of windswept clouds, towering storm systems, and endless blue skies. This aerial realm is home to a diverse array of air-dwelling creatures, and its winds are inhabited by powerful air elementals. To survive in Stratos, visitors must possess some form of flight or aerial locomotion, such as wings, gliding abilities, or magical means like the Cloudwalk spell. Without such abilities, travelers would be helpless, at the mercy of the whimsical winds and treacherous air currents.
The landscapes of Stratos are as varied as they are breathtaking. The Cloudhaven, a sprawling, city-like structure composed of clouds and mist, serves as a hub for aerial commerce and culture. The Aethersteppes, endless, rolling hills of cloud and mist, stretch as far as the eye can see, providing a unique challenge for navigators.
Cloudponds, small, serene lakes and ponds that form within the clouds, offer oases for weary travelers. Cloudwaterfalls, breathtaking spectacles where clouds burst open, releasing torrents of misty water that evaporate into the air, are a wonder to behold.
The Zephyr Peaks, towering, wispy mountain ranges that shift and change shape according to the whims of the wind, present a formidable challenge for even the most skilled aerial explorers. The Maelstrom, a massive, perpetual storm system that churns and boils with incredible energy, is a force to be reckoned with.
The Zephyrine Isles, a scattering of floating islands that drift through the skies, are home to the Ventari and the Aviari tribes. These islands are covered in lush vegetation, with towering trees, sparkling waterfalls, and vibrant, exotic flowers. The islands themselves seem to be alive, shifting and changing shape according to the whims of the wind.
Among the inhabitants of Stratos are the Ventari, also known as the Skydancers, and the Aviari tribes. The Aviari, anthropomorphic bird creatures, possess ancient wisdom and aerial prowess. The Aviari have slender, athletic builds covered in shimmering, iridescent feathers. Their wings are strong and broad, with a delicate membrane that shimmers like the moon. Their eyes are sharp and piercing, with vertical pupils that seem to gleam like polished obsidian. Their hair is composed of soft, downy feathers that frame their faces, often adorned with intricate, beaded braids or headpieces.
Their attire is a blend of functional, aerodynamic garments and ornate, ceremonial regalia. They favor flowing, silken fabrics that catch the wind, often embroidered with intricate patterns that reflect their connection to the skies. Their armor is lightweight and flexible, composed of overlapping, feather-like scales that provide protection without hindering their flight. The Aviari are known for their love of storytelling, poetry, and music. They gather frequently to share tales of their ancestors' exploits, accompanied by the lilting sounds of the lyre, the flute, and the harp. Their poetry is infused with the rhythms and cadences of the wind, and their music seems to capture the very essence of the air currents.
In their daily lives, the Aviari incorporate intricate rituals and customs that reflect their connection to the wind and the skies. They perform elaborate, aerial dances to honor the wind spirits, and their artisans craft beautiful, delicate windcatchers that seem to capture the essence of the breeze.
The Ventari are a mystical, nomadic people who possess ancient knowledge of the wind's secrets and can communicate with the wind itself. The Ventari have slender, athletic builds, with skin tones ranging from warm golden brown to rich, dark chocolate. Their hair is often dark and flowing, with hints of auburn or caramel highlights, and is frequently adorned with intricate, gemstone-studded braids or headpieces. Their eyes are almond-shaped and expressive, with vertical pupils that seem to gleam like polished onyx.
Their attire is a blend of flowing, diaphanous fabrics and intricately embroidered, fitted garments. They favor vibrant colors and patterns, often incorporating intricate geometric motifs, and symbolic motifs that reflect their connection to the wind and the skies. The Ventari live in harmony with the wind, their lives a constant dance with the air currents. They possess ancient wisdom and knowledge of the wind's secrets, passed down through generations of Ventari. Their cities are designed to blend seamlessly into the Zephyrine Isles' landscapes, with sweeping arches, intricate filigree, and delicate, lace-like stonework.
The anchors, ancient structures that channel the elemental power of air, are strategically located on the Fae planes of Everbright and Darkfell. As the winds of Stratos flow through these anchors, they become infused with the essence of the Fae planes. Everbright imbues the winds with qualities of lightness, clarity, and vitality
