The Lost Lands

The Lost Lands are thought to be a desolate, hot, and dry place. No one dare enter them, else risk death by any number of nasty means.

Geography

The Lost Lands are rather large in size, thought to be as big as the province of Myrea. Because of their deadly nature, their current terrain is unmapped, and both its ecology and geology are a mystery. However, they are thought to be largely a desolated desert, devoid of friendly life or water, and occupied only by monsters.   They are located south of the province of Dyodia, and west of the province of the Southlands. The Prioni mountain range acts as a wall between the Lost Lands and Dyodia, with the Riyahorne clan keeping watch upon the mountain passes, from their fortress at Napoca .   Between the Lost Lands and the Southlands mostly lies the Sea of Sorrows. At the narrowest point, the Straight of Corycus, stands the citadel of Corycus, seat of the House of Hyggion.

Localized Phenomena

Occasionally, Napoca and Corycus have reported large clouds of what looks like dust hanging over the Lost Lands, and these are thought to be sandstorms. Sailors who pass by in the Sea of Sorrows are rumored to have seen gaunt, gray, humanoid creatures pacing the shore.

History

A long time ago, after the Desolation but before the Founding of Nemea, the Lost Lands were regularly traveled by people. Much of it was desert, but it was well-known to have several oases and hot springs areas to which people would travel for relaxation and the healing properties of the waters. The names of these places are lost to time. Even the desert was full of life that had figured out how to survive the hot, dry climate.   It is believed that in his attempt to save the people of Nemea, something led Holy Alcides to those lands, and he disappeared for 90 days. Upon his return to Zis, he would say nothing of what happened while he was there, and no record of it exists today. It is said that immediately after his return, travelers to the Lost Lands began to disappear, and stories of terrifying creatures roaming therein began to circulate.
