Elsara is known to be the favored next ruler of Dyodia. She is the oldest granddaughter of the current Matriarch, Eileithyia Ursanaa. Since Dyodia is a Matriarchy, she is favored over her older brother, Elin. Her mother Briganna, although she is the only daughter of Eileithyia, has no interest and has impliedly stepped aside from the line of succession, never having completed the necessary Dyodian traditions. Eileithyia tutors Elsara herself, and it is expected that when her time comes, the people of Dyodia will approve her succession by proclamation.
When we meet Elsara, she is about to depart for her Passage, a ritual journey taken by certain young women before their eighteenth birthday.
