Terrapin Station

Hailing from the remote paradise of Terrapin Isle, the Tortle band Terrapin Station is known as the hardest working band in Pax. Playing an impressive two hundred and fifty gigs per year surely proves out that point.   The band plays long form improvisational music, blending poetically delivered lyrics with masterfully crafted rhythms. It is not uncommon to hear that they have played for over three hours at a single show. On the stage, the band is tight, and off stage, the band is friendly with one another. They are inimately professional, hard working, and talented.   Terrapin Station has attracted a group of people it calls its "family". These folks make up the bulk of the roadwork for the band, handling innumerable tasks and minutia. It is a friendly group of innovators and free thinkers who come up with unique soultions to all sorts of problems. They have travelled the world together, and their bonds have grown stronger with each struggle that ensues.   The band is made up of several distinct personalities:
  1. Koro "Big Shell" Maku – Drummer

    • The heartbeat of the band. He is a huge Tortle with a deep green shell covered in faded tribal markings.
    • Wears a wide red bandana and simple gold hoop earrings.
    • Plays with massive drumsticks carved from driftwood.
    • Quiet offstage, thunderous onstage.
  2. Peli "Snap" Anoa – Drummer

    • The energetic counterpart to Koro. Smaller Tortle with a bright teal shell decorated with painted wave patterns.
    • Wears jangling bracelets that click while drumming.
    • Known for showy flourishes and syncopated beats.
    • Always grinning, always moving.
  3. Moana "Moe" Kaikani – Lead Guitar
    • Slim and quick-fingered, with a smooth dark-brown shell patterned like swirling clouds.
    • Wears a shell necklace and a few rings made from polished coral.
    • His guitar is an old, well-loved instrument with mother-of-pearl inlays.
    • Plays wild, improvisational solos — the "face" of the band.
  4. Tavi "Twin Fins" Nalu – Rhythm Guitar
    • Broad and steady, with a sand-colored shell flecked with specks of blue.
    • Keeps the groove locked down, supports Moe’s solos without ever trying to steal the spotlight.
    • Often seen with a flower tucked behind one ear.
    • His voice is low and soothing when he sings backup.
  5. Keahi "Kea" Manu – Bass Guitar
    • The "cool one." Dark blue shell almost like midnight, polished to a mirror finish.
    • Wears small silver charms tied around his wrists.
    • Barely moves while playing, but his basslines are smooth, playful, and hypnotic.
    • Deep baritone voice, occasionally steps up to sing lead on slow, heavy ballads.

Structure

It is a loose-knit community of like minded individuals, who love to tour the world and sing their songs. They dance like no one is watching, and love psychadelic drugs, bringing their own chemist along with them as they tour.

Culture

The culture of this band and its followers is one of peace, love, and understanding for one's fellows. Acceptance is the general rule, with "love thy neighbor" being the overall vibe.

Public Agenda

The band wants nothing more than to travel the world, and spread the love, man.

Assets

Dozens of instruments, stage accoutrements, and a seemingly infinite wardrobe seem to just follow this band everywhere they go. It is a testament to the organizational skills of Herdsley, their road manager, who ultimately wrangles the chaotic bunch into some sort of functioning, cohesive unit.

History

Formed in the late 5300s, this eclectic band of musical geniuses has worked two hundred and fifty plus gigs a year since their early days jamming as students on the The Bardic College Campus. They have travelled the world several times around,
