Kings Day

A day when the populations of the entire country celebrates the births of the Kingdom's rulers. Feasts and drinking, ranging from small village celebrations to the massive fetè the The High King's Seat hurls the entire capitol city into, carry on for three days. Traditionally, on the last day, the High King disguises him or herself, and attends the party as a commoner somewhere different each year. Last year, High King Artemis partied the night away at the party under Carrigan's Archways, ending the festivities with the traditional march to the castle and the ceremonial spanking of the king before the gates of the Old Keep.   Nobody, as yet, has had the globes to actually spank the King, even though he offers, every year.

History

This tradition was started by one of the Kingdom of Cotnor royalty a few centuries ago, now. The spanking of the king was added later, by a Grey, to remind the current High King that while he is all powerful, the people he serves command are the final power in the Unified Kingdoms of Greysilt.

Execution

On day one, people arise ready to party heartily. The festivities are officially started off by someone banging on a drum at noon. In the capitol city of Craysilt, so many drums are hit at the same time, the noise can be heard from as far away as a mile.

Components and tools

Steins of small beer, or mead, is hoisted in the High King's honor at a quarter past the hour, and the ceremonial candle is lit. The party will continue until the candle, carefully crafted to do just so, exhausts itself somewhere around midnight of the third day. There are, of course, gag celebration candles that have been crafted to last up to a week, or that snuff themselves in just a few moments. Gags and jokes are very popular amongst the citizenry of the capitol.
