Duke Caliphaius Psuedonym Enigmatist
A bored arch-fey always looking for his next great adventure, Caliphaius has inadvertently caused wars, but simultaneously ended famines. He is a master of trickery and disguise, taking immense pleasure in fooling other people into doing his bidding. Oftentimes, his goals will align with the objects of his pranking, and they will come by a windfall of some sort; usually something of great value acquired through completely unexpected means.
Physical Description
Caliphaius is, in general, in very good shape. His physique is whatever he wishes it to be, as he is an
Archfey, and his ego proscribes a body of rippling muscle and athletic demeanor.
He has a long mane of rippling black hair that he is very proud of, and very athletic calves.
He has very purple eyes, and a pronounced hook nose, both of which he thinks looks "regal".
Caliphaius can move people toward him as a bonus action, if he hits with the whip, at which point he will hit them with shocking grasp and two melee weapon attacks.
He is always dressed in purple and black, with black leather accoutrements and silver steal weapons. He carries a rapier named Lastion, four throwing daggers that automagically return to their sheathes, and a hand crossbow that he stows on his left hip.
Caliphaius carries a long whip, with a fifteen foot reach.
Mental characteristics
Born to a noble family in Agiddo, Caliphaius has always had the luxury of being able to pursue whatever dream was consuming him at that moment. Always rather flighty, "Cali" is an intense individual who chases after his interests with passion.
Caliphaius is male, and has lost count of the number of children he has sired, even though it is only four.
Caliphaius is an unapologetic playboy and philanderer, with many notches in his bedpost.
Caliphaius' education was a chaotic, unstructured affair that, somehow, wound up being very thorough.
Being the duke of his territory in the
Feywild is a full time job, although he very much enjoys plane-hopping to prank random beings of varying intelligence.
Other than failing miserably at wooing Sheherizade the Temptress, any time this
Archfey loses a follower, he takes it personally, and will prank the apostate chaotically for the rest of their natural lifetime.
His best friend, Veris, betrayed him and stole the one girl Caliphaius ever truly loved. He is aware of the fact that her, leaving him, is proof positive that it would not have worked out in the first place, but Caliphaius is proud of how long he can hold a grudge.
Caliphaius is, according to himself, a genius of the highest order. And, while he
is Fey, and indeed very clever, he is by no means the supragenius he makes himself out to be.
Caliphaius' morality is deeply situational.
Caliphaius may be greedy, wonton, lustful and self-centered, but he is not evil. His pranks are epic, but never fatal, or even very damaging (except by accident). He can be be a boor, true, but he is also a champion of orphaned children everywhere he finds them. Woe to the abuser who comes to Caliphaius' attention.
Personality Characteristics
Caliphaius cares much more for a good prank than he does for stuffy church services, and his primary motivation is to find the best time in any particular place, and put himself squarely in the middle of it.
Caliphaius is truly the master of not-really-painful pranks and jokes, but is terrible at reading a room. To him, there are too few pranks and jokes, and too much stolid philosophizing, amongst his following.
Caliphaius really, truly, enjoys a good joke, even if it is played on himself. He likes nut brown ale, prime rib roast, and horseradish sauce to go with it. He is not a fan of exercize, or long and deep conversations. He is a fan of excess and boisterous partying, but would not be caught dead in a library. He bores very easily, and sometimes has the attention span of a squirrel caught in a kennel.
Caliphaius really does care for his subjects, and will protect them when he is able to do so. His innate power allows him to be many places very quickly, and his creation ability stands him in good stead time after time.
The
Archfey, as a general rule, enjoy gambling a little too much, and Caliphaius is no exception to that unfortunate rule. He is also lustful, unfaithful, and a little untrustworthy unless he has given his word. He will not lie, and must follow any deal he makes to the letter, but he will try to weasel out of anything he possibly can, just to be able to say that he did.
Caliphaius smokes cheroots obsessively, through a long, ebony filter.
The archfey is obsessively clean; maloderous and unclean people are personally offensive to the prim and proper Caliphaius. He is known to carry a scented kerchief in case he were to run into such a situation.
The archfey has four sons, who do not come into this story.
The duke's wealth is comparable to that of a small nation. He has been greedily collecting his horde for a long, long time now.
