Muz Drak

Dragonborn Council by Wizards of the Coast

The people of Drak Tei refer to themselves as the "Muz Drak" (dragon people).

Ancestries

The Muz Drak first came to be when the first Dragonkin were created in the lands of Drak Tei. As a result, the Muz Drak were almost exclusively Dragonkin for most of their early history. During the Age of Expansion, increased interactions between the Muz Drak and their neighbors on Idraz and Kropall led to more non-Dragonkin ancestries becoming part of the Muz Drak. From the Age of Colonization on, the Muz Drak had become much more ancestrally diverse, though the government of the Drak Tei Union still favors people of Dragonkin ancestry for positions of power and renown.

Naming Traditions

Unisex names

Historically, the Muz Drak have almost exclusively been Dragonkin, and as such their naming conventions are designed with draconic anatomy, vocal abilities, and the Draconic language in mind. As a result, Muz Drak names are often difficult, if not impossible for non-Dragonkin to pronounce without significant practice or magically-assisted speech. Non-Draconic peoples that are Muz Drak often borrow names from nearby cultures, such as the Jhaturian, Ransun, and Karstranian peoples along their borders. Additionally, the traditional names of the Muz Drak are not gendered; any given Muz Drak name is appropriate for any Muz Drak person. Dragonkin Muz Drak who often interact with non-Dragonkin usually use shortened versions of their full names that are easier for non-Dragonkin tongues to pronounce.
