The Coetus Doctrina

The Coetus Doctrina is a loosely organized and decentralized coalition of various mage guilds and arcane researchers wishing to further their understanding of the Nodehearts and related etherium science. They work on the basis of sharing information and guiding research around Telandor, and as such their imposing of authority on their subordinate guilds is very low.

Structure

The Coetus Doctrina is a collection of various guilds and mage orders that aims to collect and distribute knowledge in order to guide research around Telandor. They are based in the Silver Sanctum, home to the Order of the Sixth Rune that created the coalition. The idea of the Coetus Doctrina is to categorize and share information and as such they employ the many scribes in the Silver Sanctum.

Scribes

The Coetus Doctrina employs scores of scribes in its headquarters. They receive messages through Arcanogram from various research centers around the world that they record and categorize in writing, cross-referencing and comparing notes to form a complete picture. Not all who work as scribes are magic users, some are just gifted at writing, but it is common for initiates at the Silver Sanctum to work as scribes in order to facilitate good research principles.

Pathfinders

A pathfinder is the lowest rank one can attain within the Coetus Doctrina that still allows for direct control and decision making regarding the coalitions goals and next steps. The pathfinders work in teams, aggregating new research and planning out future paths of inquiry based on what they find. They are responsible for outlining the newsletters that are sent back to members of the coalition, detailing new findings and suggesting new paths of research. The pathfinders decision making within teams is dependent on voting, and are as such always odd in number of members. Each team has a leader, called The Needle, though she does not retain any more voting power than her peers. Instead the job of the needle is to organize each teams effort, by facilitating discussion and organizing further research once voting has concluded.

The Administratum

The Administratum is the branch of the coalition that is concerned with all administrative and financial tasks. They are responsible for taking on applicants to the organization, both independent members and research guilds or groups. They are in charge of supplying each connected group with connected Arcanograms and the construction of teleportation circles connected to the coalition network. The Administratum is also the main financial body within the coalition, making sure each member guild pays it's membership fee and gets the associated benefits.

The Inner circle

The inner circle is the highest authoritative power inside the coalition, though it functions a lot like a pathfinder group. The only difference being that they have more control over the coalition as a whole, and can give direction to the pathfinders or directly to the connected research guilds. Members of the inner circle are often high level mages or scholars within their particular field who for some reason have decided to leave their guild of origin.

Public Agenda

The Coetus Doctrina is a coalition based on furthering the knowledge of Ethercraft, Etherium and Etherstorms.   Their goals are:
To share information, so that no effort is spent researching something that has already been learnt.
To spread knowledge: so that someone else may build upon what you have found.
To provide guidlines:so that no innocents are hurt.

I would love to know what the Coetus Doctrina have found out about the Nodehearts, but maybe that's spoilers for your campaign... Oh well, really intriguing stuff regardless!
