When Flint was young, his father, a noted Dwarven cartographer, was convinced to take him along on a trip to the fabled Mount Hold's Bane. Their balloon crashed, leading to his father's death, but leaving him alive. What transpired on that mountain has never been revealed in explicit detail, but years later he returned to the civilized world alive, well, and Marked.
