Sun Two Settlement in Teel | World Anvil

Sun Two

Sun Two

Sun Two (also referred to as the eternal city or the flying city) is a building site in the South of the Mofta Grasslands. The Alchemists of Teel are in charge of the construction, which has just been started a few Waves ago. The aim is to build a city that is able to hover in the air, in order to cross the Infinite Sands and to explore the rest of the planet.

1. Etymology

The architecture and design of Sun Two is supposed to be very different from any other settlement that Teel  has ever seen. "This city will shine upon the clouds like the sun", is what the manifest by the Lead Alchemist says. Based on this idea, Yesod promises a city of mirrors that will be indistinguishable from the sun: Sun Two.

2. History

Background
    • The basic idea for the flying city comes from the Lead Alchemist, who is currently missing since the opening of the first rift. A manifest that can be found at the Library of Teel reveals his motivation: The Juru scientist dreamed of exploring the world and other worlds beyond the borders of their domestic dimension.
    • Yesod took action beyond manifests when the Lead-Alchemist disappeared. He is responsible for the architecture and for the fast building of the new Alchemist's Guild in the center of the scaffolding.
    • No referendum has been made for the approval of the building site yet.

  Construction
    • Despite the fact that neither the Free City of Teel  nor the Juru community officially approved the building, the preparation for the construction has already started in 118 AS under the administration of the remaining four Alchemists.
    • The scaffolding for the flying city is almost finished. Yesod is about to introduce the new Alchemist's Guild in the center of the new city.
    • Thousands of mirrors lie around at the building site. They are supposed to decorate the walls and roofs of the city to make it shine brightly when it is hit by sunbeams.

3. Architecture and Urban Planning

Sun Two is designed for at least 100 citizens. The city shall incorporate several greenhouses for a frequent food supply. Rumors say that it is going to be more of a fortress than a city, others question the fact that Yesod will manage to make the metallic masses hover in the air.
Engine The engine of the flying city is based on Athem. Theoretically, it functions similar to a repelling magnet that interacts with the terrestrial pattern of Athem forces.
