Quilor

Quilor is a mountainous region at a high enough elevation to be horribly cold year-round. The roads leading into the region--specifically those heading towards Murttai, the primary settlement (who are we kidding? The only settlement) of the region--are passable for a narrow six week period every year.   General opinion is that no one lives in Quilor voluntarily. The miners of Murttai are all indentured labor: slaves buying their freedom or prisoners paying their dues. Some are free to leave after only a year or two, some die before they have the chance. And yet others will never, ever get to leave, because their crimes were so great--such as political dissident Tolat Awyer, famed leader of the Swoilhat Uprising. Despite all the hazards of the region, the Quoriltan are a hardy people proud of the things they can survive.   If it weren't for highly magical Lloimnal Crystals to be found hiding in Raddardan's Graveyard, no one would bother with the whole region. Something as little as bloodthirsty wildlife, unpalatable food, blizzards, and an old witch's curse aren't going to keep Brottper Trading from magic!
The biggest landmarks of the Quilor region is the mining town of Murttai, run by Brottper Trading, which sits just outside Raddardan's Graveyard, a complex cave network full of valuable Lloimnal. Legend has it the death of the lower god Raddardan created the Llominal. Mining it from the cavern is a desecration of his remains, so anyone who does so it cursed horribly by Lloetos, a witch foretold to raise Raddardan from the dead and retake the entire mountain range.

Author's Notes

Well, one is better than none, right?   This article as it currently stands is less about Quilor and more an overview of how I'd brainstormed putting the Summer Camp prompts together. Because of IRL drama (moving house is utter insanity!!!) I didn't get the chance to write until the 29th, so here's what I came up with in two days and change.   While there isn't a whole lot to read here, I hope you can see some of the hints towards the greater story I had begun to build. Don't worry, I suspect this will be part of the next campaign. ;)
