The Founding Church

Mythology & Lore

The mythological base surrounding the deity Pillar does not see the deity as much as a entity, but as a sacred order of how things should be. Bravest clerics debate this to this very day, as to the divine beings that have appeared on great times of need must've been sent by something. It is not for unlearned to judge or debate, but what is known of these entities is believed in strongly and some of those who worship Pillar seek out patron deities of who are believed to be Pillar's lieutenants. They are mortals granted sainthood and celestial beings seen once or twice in the entire recorded history of man.
Hamal Abrietas is held as the most sacred patron of Pillar. It was her visions that gave way to the birth of the whole Order by claiming that it was not unjust for the Warlord Zabra Niel to rule - It was merely the Warlords undoing of not filling the lower tiers of the sacred Pillar, but ruling over a piggery with an iron fist. Abrietas gathered her followers, who with a never-before-witnessed zeal struck down the mad Zabra Niel, and from the ashes of his kingdom set the very foundation of the Founding Church.
Galmael, Saint's Rest is the name given to the entity, who was a first sign no mortal could deny that Abrietas had truly discovered something. When her people cried and howled at her grave, it is said that there was a beam of light reaching the very heavens, that parted the clouded sky. It was then that a man with skin like that of the sun came down to bring Abrietas back home, to watch over and to make sure that Abrietas could overlook the sanctity of her Order even from beyond death. Galmael has been sighted after this two more times, and it is believed that at the end of each day, at the last ray of sun, Galmael departs from the mortal realm, carrying the souls of all those who served the proper Order in life to the afterlife.

Divine Origins

"Men were but beasts, not unlike the heathen wood elves and roaming goblinoids, before the Order of Pillar. In divine sanctity, the ancient paladin forged a sacred order that formed everything that we know as modern civilization. Hamal Abrietas, the first knight of Pillar had her vision on how a proper ordained world should stand. Abrietas carried on the vision, and gathered those who would follow her. With her selfless acts, the kingdom of Melchros was born." - Prophecies, Old and New.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Founding Church has massive political power and maneuvering, since it heavily supports the structure of current society and allows nobles to rule from their high-seats, while rabble grovel at their feet. The Founding Church is the most common religion and most widely spread within the ever-spreading human kingdoms. Most courts always house one Ordainer who shares advice and sees to it that the rulers respect the Sacred Order of Pillar. These Ordainers seek balance in society and strong segregation between different classes and titles. A peasant could not rise up to knighthood alone by his or her decisions, but the Founding Church must as well make their decision if this balancing is needed for the kingdom.
