The Seasonal Temple

Purpose / Function

The Seasonal Temple sits in the heart of the country of Isos. The Temple houses the Seasonal Throne, a seat crafted by the Elder Gods. Depending on who sits upon the Seasonal throne, different seasons or climate effects will come to the land of Tarin. The Knights of Creation and Destruction wage endless war to claim the temple and throne for the Vessel of their God.

Architecture

The temple was built from sandstone that has been whitewashed. Lush gardens surround the temple. The plants themselves have been specially grown by the Goddess of Life in order to grow green and beautiful no matter what the season.
The Seasonal Throne itself is carved from the same rock as the temple, and is actually attached to the floor. It is inlaid with tiny cabochons of what look to be opals. Some claim that they are more likely Vitralus with specific and dormant intent to create seasons, which is what gives the throne and its temple its properties.

History

In years past, the Gods discovered that when one of them sat upon the throne, the climate of the planet would shift to reflect their power. The Goddess of Truth, also known as the Sun Goddess, would cause endless daylight. Her counterpart, the Goddess of Deception, as the Moon Goddess would cause an eternal night. Order and Chaos, the Lunar and Solar Eclipses respectively, would perpetuate their preferred type of eclipse.
The Great Gods, being less powerful than their parents, cause less extreme changes. The God of Creation, child of Truth, causes the warm and sunny season known as Summer, and the God of Destruction, child of Deception, cause the cold and dark season known as Winter.
The Gods quickly realized that it would be impractical for one of them to be sitting on the throne for much of the year, and opted for a easier solution. Instead, the Vessels of Creation and Destruction will sit the Seasonal Throne in their God's place. When Creation's Vessel sits the Throne, summer comes to Tarin. When Destruction's Vessel sits, winter spreads.
Spring arrives when the Goddess of Rebirth travels to Isos to rally the Knights of Creation and inform the Vessel of Destruction of winter's end. Similarly, Autumn arrives when the God of Death rallies the Knights of Destruction, and informs the Vessel of Creation that summer is over.
