Smelted exclusively in the Prydithen city of Mathe, Mathian Steel comes from a blend of iron and an unusual, silvery-white ore with a tinge of gold. The ore, first found in Mathian Steel First Smelted in the Wind Wall Mountains north of the city, has proven difficult to work with but well worth the effort. Smiths that work the ore zealously guard the ratio of it to iron required to make Mathian Steel and have banded together in the Steelworker's Guild to ensure that they keep quality - and prices - high. It is most often used for weapons and armor, though some craftsmen find that the higher quality tools made with Mathian steel to be worth the cost.

Flexable and Durable

Mathian Steel is both more flexible and more resistant to rust than other types of iron and steel. Weapons, armor, and tools made with it gain a +2 bonus to all saving throws against being damaged.
