Port Town

Once a small fishing village, Port Town has developed into a hub for entry to the continent. There are many artisans and specialists within the city, and it is known for its unique culture. Indigenous Lemarin people live in the area with close spiritual connection to the ocean.

Demographics

The largest urban population of Lemarin is found in Port Town, and the Church of Chalchiuhtlicue has a cultural hold.

Government

Mayor Kayden Middleton  manages domestic affairs, reports to The Circle on a monthly basis.

Defences

Once defended by a loyal city guard, Port Town is currently rebuilding its forces after the previous guard mysteriously rebelled. Fallbrook has sent some of its forces to support Port Town's as it rebuilds.

Industry & Trade

Port Town is undoubtedly the fishing capital of Lunaire, and it exports fish along the Atoya River to the settlements along the river. It imports a lot of its produce from Featherdew and Morelaine. Trade with Fallbrook is reciprocal as the two cities depend on each other. Many livestock do not do well in the cold temperatures, but a few ranches can be found in the outskirts of the city.

Infrastructure

Shipyards, Temples, Windmills, Lighthouse

Guilds and Factions

The Adventurer's Guild's farthest-north base is found here and managed squarely by Chid. Despite it being outside of his jurisdiction, Mayor Kayden is fascinated by it, therefore it has close ties to the city hall. In addition, there is no BFG office here, and it is the only major city in Lunaire without its representation.

History

Humans from the southern side of Lunaire "colonized" the land, taking it from the indigenous Lemarin people. The Lemarin fought them off but eventually lost and were nearly eradicated. They have established ties with the yokai that are native to the region, and were similarly driven off by the southern humans.

In much more recent history, the Town Hall Fire conflict occurred in the middle of the night.

Points of interest

Headquarters of the Church of Chalchiuhtlicue is located here, on a peninsula in the northwest of town.

Tourism

Known for its proximity to the frozen winterlands, many travel through Port Town on their way to see the northern lights. In summertime, tourists from all over Tariel visit Port Town for Port Town Pride, a famous pride festival and first of its kind.

Architecture

Many buildings in Port Town are fashioned from wood, with stone foundations.

Geography

Port Town sits on the mouth of the Atoya River, where it meets the Catalina Sound. It is mainly flat, with a few hills just outside the city. Farther east, the Zuma Mountains can be found.

Climate

Port Town's weather is cool and temperate most of the year. It gets warm in summer, with sporadic rains. Winter brings snow to the region.

Natural Resources

The Ahuatzi Forest to the north and the Deadwood Forest to the east provide lumber to the town. In addition, winter wheat grows wild in the area around the city, and many farmers cultivated their own varieties. Barley, potatoes, and rye take well to the soil, and help feed the population.
