Within this volume you will find brief excerpts of the various fauna of the natural, less than natural, and downright foul you may expect to encounter across Valerick. This comprehensive volume will detail such things as expected environments, basic behaviors, strengths and weaknesses and many other valuable bits of information. It is split into four sections as follows;
Beasts of Valerick; This chapter introduces the various families and a healthy cross-section of three members of each family, of the naturally occurring wildlife of both animal and fantastical nature, within Valerick.
Monsters of Valerick; This chapter introduces the various families of non-intelligent mutated monsters that now inhabit the continent, the families of abominations that now occur quite naturally in our world because of the first and second Sundering events, when the Void bled over. These creatures are, for the most part, why the Exemplaris orders came to exist.
Children of Madness; This section details the expected behavior of fallen folk, cultists of the Void within our own society of course, as they are little more than monsters once they fall to such things. However they are but a brief mention, a nod to our own weaknesses. This chapter mostly focuses on the seven families of true Children of Madness, as with all sections, each family offers a brief entry on three of its members, a healthy cross-section to give a working basis of such creatures.
Spawn of Madness; This section covers information on the seven distinct types of being from the Void, those families of pure madness, and the various sorts of horrors one can expect to encounter should they have the misfortune of being exposed to such nightmares. This chapter will offer three distinct examples of such creatures, one example of the three agreed upon levels of Daemon, as they are called, as established by experts in the field, for each family. One will also find the, albeit less fact checked, description and stories of the Avatar of Woe, the named being whom is, according to legend, the first born spawn of each Ruinous Power, under the proper family's chapter within.
Note: If one doesn't wish to use the noted generic stat block, and wants to spice it up, simply reduce all Characteristics by 10, then roll 2d10 for each.
BESTIARY ENTRY LAYOUT
Entries will be laid out as follows;
CREATURE NAME
Brief visual description of creature/favored habits/behaviors. Basically a brief one paragraph vignette to help you get an idea of such a beast, and how to present it as a GM.
Home Range/Favored Biomes; This section will contain a list of nation-states commonly known to have such beasts living in their wild places, as well as listing their preferred environmental biomes.
Inhospitable Biomes: This section will simply note the environmental biomes that most scholars agree such a creature cannot, for any variety of reasons, survive in. This means, therefore, such scholarly minds dismiss any and all reports of sightings, without physical proof even perhaps beyond a mere corpse, demanding expeditions to prove such claims.
A table laying out a simple stat block for you as a GM, including the 10 basic characteristics and their Modifiers, so they are available as necessary for easy reference for abilities or rules with limits based off them such as Deathblow. Letters correspond thusly;
