Argonth

Dinas Hofran to the Elves. Plywajaca Wierza to the Humblefolk. Lumipad Lundsog to the Sina Una. No matter the location, race, or culture everyone on Taridad has heard of the floating fortress of Breland. Argonth is the brainchild of Brelish industrial strength and the ingenuity of House Cannith and the largest military complex and war engine ever built.   Argonth began construction during the first year of the revolution and was completed by the end of the same year. The joint effort of mages and engineers created this battle masterpiece to give Breland an edge during the war. It allowed the newly formed country to gain the most territory from the Wynarn Empire's remanents. It spent most of the war moving from battle to battle in the area bounded by Graywall, Strixhaven University, and Ravnica. Today, it patrols the eastern edge of the Graywall Alps, from the southwestern Brelish mesas to the northern plains near the Gateway to Droaam. Argonth currently holds an entire brigade of the Brelish military.

Battle Blueprints

Argonth is now a military city dominated by foot soldiers and cavalry. However, despite this, the floating fortress is still a city and is loosely divided into three districts.   The Bow is what locals refer to when talking about the forwardmost section of Argonth. This is where all the residential "neighborhoods" are located. It is crammed, cold, musty, and far from the ideal living situation, but when it is all that is available citizens will take what they can get. This is also where the Classifieds make their home. The Classifieds is the largest library on the military history of Noyatu and is used and updated regularly by Brelish strategists looking to improve the magic-deficient military.   Given the structure of Argonth, there is a connecting section that joins the two halves of the fortress. This connection is Midtown Road. Midtown Road is much more than a single road and is instead an entire ward dedicated to the manufacturing of weapons, adventuring gear shops, and a variety of inns, taverns, and brothels. One of the most infamous nightclubs here is Sanguine, a soldier-dominated place of relief.   At the lowest level of Midtown Road is a place of green and blue in the middle of a steel city. Forgotten Vale is a large park that gives the citizens of Argonth a taste of the outside world. This place of refuge is tended by a circle of druids who found the balance between civilization and nature. Forgotten Vale is the most frequently visited place of leisure for civilian residents and most soldiers respect the idea of allowing civilians to have their own part of Argonth.

The Cry of Cosmos

During the revolution, the Brelish military had a special branch dedicated to using the power of Linia and I'ala. These moon and star druids and lunar sorcerers became obsessed with harnessing the power of the night sky to ensure a victory for Breland. However, in their search for power, they stumbled upon something that broke them. Their minds shattered and they became deranged from the infinitude of space they observed. No one has been able to effectively communicate with the old platoon and they have stayed together under the name The Cry of Cosmos.   The group speaks of systems of planets outside our own brimming with life. They speak of galactic empires of elves not from Taridad. They speak of monstrous insectoid peoples that telepathically speak with other creatures. They speak of airships more advanced than those of House Lyrander. These ships can travel at a speed incomprehensible to the mind and can travel between these other systems. Some arcane researchers have looked into these claims by the Cry of Cosmos but have thus far found no evidence to back up any of their teachings. Some believe that despite this there may be some truth given the vastness of space, but until they have proof the Cry of Cosmos will remain a group of crazy soldiers that couldn't handle the effects of war.

Wax of the Vale

Of the many things Argonth is infamous for, the beeswax produced from Forgotten Vale is probably the strangest. For an unknown reason, the bees kept by the druids in the Vale produce the purest beeswax in Breland. Entomologists (both mundane and arcane) have studied Argonth bees and have found no significant difference between them and bees found elsewhere in the world. Beeswax collected from Argonth goes for a high price in many different markets. Candlemakers, potion brewers, and people in need of waterproofing will pay exorbitant prices to use the famous wax. The sale of Argonth wax makes up a large percentage of the city's revenue and much of that revenue goes to funding the Brelish military.
