Vala Kor'Tar

Vala Thrak'mar- Kor'Tar

Vala Kor'tar was a distinguished warrior from Necai, highly regarded for her skills in combat and tactical prowess. During a campaign against the Orcish clans, she led a battalion into a strategic raid. However, the mission did not go as planned, and her forces were ambushed by a more organized and prepared orc resistance than expected. During the fierce battle, Vala was gravely injured, separated from her troops, and left for dead in the dense forests bordering Dhuma.   It was here that she first encountered Halvor, the Warchief of the Orcish clans. Despite their peoples' animosity, Halvor recognized her as a great warrior and, respecting her strength and determination, decided to bring her back to his camp. He nursed her back to health, offering her sanctuary while she recovered. Over the course of several weeks, the two developed a mutual respect, sharing stories of their peoples and philosophies of war. Vala came to realize that much of what she had been taught about orcs was wrong—far from the brutish savages her people believed them to be, the orcs had a culture rich in honor and tradition.   As she healed, Vala began to question her loyalty to the Necai. When she learned of her kingdom's plans to launch a full-scale attack to wipe out Halvor’s entire clan, she was torn. Her sense of duty conflicted with the bond she had developed with Halvor and the understanding she had gained of his people. In the end, her honor won out, and Vala secretly warned Halvor of the coming assault, allowing him to prepare for and ultimately thwart the attack.   When she returned to Necai, Vala was branded a traitor not only for her failure in the initial mission but also for the suspicion that she had leaked critical military information. The final blow came when it was discovered that she had spent weeks living among the orcs and had begun to see them as equals. Her actions were considered treasonous, not just because of the betrayal of information but because she openly challenged the narrative that the orcs were enemies that needed to be exterminated. Faced with public shame and persecution from her former comrades, she fled Necai before an official punishment could be enacted.   Returning to Halvor and his clan, Vala integrated into orcish society and quickly earned their respect through her prowess in battle, even besting several male orcs in single combat. Many warriors sought her as a mate, but her heart belonged to Halvor. The two eventually fell deeply in love, and soon Vala became pregnant with their son, Uhtred. During this time she earned the orcish name Vala Thrak'mar, Thrak meaning "battle" or "war", mar meaning "born" or "origin." So, Vala became "Vala Battleborn" in Orcish, reflecting her earned respect and status as a fierce warrior among the orcs.   The reason Vala eventually left Halvor and Uhtred, however, stemmed from her fear of Necai's relentless pursuit of her. Though she had found a new home among the orcs, she knew that her former kingdom would not forget her betrayal. Vala had received word that an elite group of assassins, the Necaians’ most feared hunters, had been dispatched to track her down. Knowing that her presence would endanger Halvor, Uhtred, and the entire clan, she made the heart-wrenching decision to flee under the cover of night. She left behind a note for Halvor, expressing her undying love for him and their son, but explaining that her departure was necessary to protect them from the relentless threat of Necai's vengeance.
