The War of the Twin Suns and the Birth of Necai

The War of the Twin Suns is an ancient conflict that not only defined the relationship between Udes and his twin brother Urther but also led to the founding of the kingdom of Necai, which would come to worship Udes as their primary deity. This war, fought between two opposing divine forces, represents one of the most significant events in both the mortal and divine realms, shaping the history and culture of Necai forever.

The Spark of Conflict

The war began when a mortal kingdom, which would later become known as Necai, was torn apart by civil strife. The kingdom's rulers were accused of dishonor and corruption, and their governance led to widespread rebellion. Urther, the God of Revenge, saw this as an opportunity to destroy the kingdom entirely, believing that the rulers' dishonor could only be repaid with total destruction. To Urther, the kingdom had forfeited its right to exist through its betrayal of its people and the gods.   Udes, however, saw potential in the kingdom. He believed that while the leaders had dishonored their people and the gods, they could still redeem themselves through honorable combat and glorious leadership. For Udes, the kingdom’s salvation lay in restoring honor, not through revenge, but through the path of war where glory and integrity could rebuild what was lost.

The Divine Armies

Both gods descended upon the mortal world, gathering followers and warriors to their banners. Udes’ followers were warriors who believed in the nobility of combat, that war could restore order and bring glory to those who fought with honor. Urther’s forces, on the other hand, were driven by revenge and wrath, seeking retribution for the kingdom’s betrayal.   The war was named the War of the Twin Suns because the battles raged day and night, with the skies above reflecting the fiery conflict below. The sun was said to shine brighter and more intensely during the day, representing Udes’ pursuit of glory, while at night, the moon burned with a cold, eerie light, symbolizing Urther’s quest for vengeance.

The Clashing of Ideals

The battles between the two divine forces were brutal and unrelenting. Udes' army was well-disciplined and focused on strategic victories, employing tactics that mirrored their god’s teachings of honorable warfare. They sought to reclaim the kingdom’s cities and territories, promising the people a future of honor and strength.   Urther's forces, by contrast, were driven by pure destruction. They ravaged the land, driven by a desire to punish the kingdom’s leaders and lay waste to everything that stood in their path. Urther himself led his army with a fierce, unyielding presence, bringing devastation wherever he went.

The Final Duel

As the war drew on, it became clear that the land itself could not withstand much more destruction. The once fertile and lush kingdom was being torn apart by the divine conflict. In a desperate bid to end the fighting, Udes challenged Urther to single combat. The terms were clear: if Udes won, the kingdom would be spared and allowed to redeem itself through his teachings of glory and honor. If Urther won, the kingdom would be destroyed, reduced to ashes as punishment for its dishonor.   The two brothers fought in a legendary duel that shook the heavens and the earth. Udes, wielding his divine battle axe, fought with precision and strength, while Urther, driven by his relentless thirst for revenge, fought with unbridled fury. Their battle lasted for days, each blow resonating with the power of their opposing ideals.   In the end, Udes emerged victorious, not by killing his brother but by subduing him with a final, decisive strike. Udes spared Urther’s life, proving that honor and glory could triumph over revenge. Urther, defeated but not destroyed, retreated into the shadows, leaving the kingdom in Udes’ hands.

The Founding of Necai

With Urther’s forces vanquished, Udes set about rebuilding the kingdom. He saw to it that the corrupt rulers were removed and new leaders, chosen for their strength and honor, were put in place. The kingdom was renamed Necai, meaning "the redeemed," to symbolize its rebirth under Udes’ guidance.   Udes became the primary deity of the new kingdom, and his teachings of glorious warfare, honor, and strength became the foundation of their culture. The people of Necai dedicated themselves to war, not for destruction but for the pursuit of honor. They built grand temples to Udes, and his priests became leaders and tacticians, ensuring that the kingdom followed his divine path.   The Golden Vanguard, an elite force of warriors dedicated to Udes, was established to protect the kingdom and enforce the ideals of honorable combat. The story of the War of the Twin Suns became a central part of Necain culture, and each year, they celebrate the Day of Redemption, honoring Udes’ victory over Urther and the founding of their kingdom.

Legacy of the War

The War of the Twin Suns left a lasting impact on both the divine and mortal realms. While Udes emerged victorious, his relationship with Urther was forever strained. The people of Necai continue to honor Udes, believing that through war and combat, they can achieve not just victory but immortality through glory.   The kingdom of Necai thrives under Udes’ guidance, valuing strength, honor, and martial prowess above all else. They continue to pass down the teachings of Udes through generations, their society built on the principles forged during the war.

Spread

The legend of the War of the Twin Suns has spread far and wide, becoming a foundational myth in the kingdom of Necai and regions that honor martial prowess. In Necai, the story is common knowledge, taught to every citizen from a young age, as it forms the very core of their cultural and religious identity. The tale is celebrated annually during the Day of Redemption, and it is recited in the temples of Udes as a reminder of the god’s values of honor and glory in warfare.

Variations & Mutation

There are apocryphal versions of the story that exist in more secretive or cursed circles. Some say that Urther's followers, who still exist in the shadows, tell a different tale—one where Urther was not truly defeated but merely withdrew to plan his revenge. These dark sects believe that the story is incomplete and that one day, Urther will return to claim his victory, setting the world ablaze with his fury. This version of the story is hidden and known only to the cursed followers of Urther, who whisper of the revenge yet to come.
