Stormwreck Session 4

General Summary

Session Summary: Velnir 17–18, 472 HE

Our adventure resumed with the party harvesting the spoils from their fiery victory over the fume drakes and fire snake. With their enemies vanquished and the toxic fumes cleared, they returned to the myconid colony to check on their progress. Rainbow sent a telepathic "just checking in" message to Sinensa, who didn’t reply with words but projected a warm feeling of gratitude and welcome. Rainbow, in her usual flair, nicknamed Zaruk “the cranky cow,” much to everyone’s amusement. The party climbed back up the cliffs to the path and settled down for a well-deserved rest.

Cliffside Kobold Clash

Morning greeted the party with an odd feeling, as though unseen eyes were watching. Gurgi confirmed their suspicions, signaling the presence of intruders. Moments later, a group of kobolds emerged from the bushes, boldly announcing their intent to steal from the adventurers. Rainbow attempted diplomacy, warning the kobolds against their foolishness, but their greed outweighed their sense, and a fight ensued.
Dezzy unleashed a devastating moonbeam spell, melting one kobold down to the bone and intimidating three others into fleeing. Rainbow and Ioane took down three more kobolds, leaving only two survivors, who fled after seeing the carnage. Zaruk, shielded by his comrades, remained unscathed and as cranky as ever. The party looted the bodies and continued their trek back to the cloister.

A Night of Cards, Study, and Mushrooms

At the cloister, the party enjoyed a lighter evening. Zaruk grumbled about his bad luck during a card game but ultimately won the pot, much to his delight. Dezzy spent five hours learning Khorian from Ioane, impressively picking up the basics. Zaruk practiced his javelin-throwing for three hours, while Rainbow painted an adorable fuzzy mushroom.

The next morning, they brought the ruby morel and heartcap mushrooms to Tarak in the garden. Pleasantly surprised, Tarak promised an elixir of health and healing potions by the next day.

Books, Statues, and Reckless Aquatics

Zaruk and Ioane stumbled upon the kitchen, where root vegetable hash awaited. Remembering his vegetarian preferences, Zaruk opted for stew instead. Meanwhile, Dezzy explored the library and discovered texts like Wisdom of the Wyrms, Hymns of the Celestial Scale, and a fragmented scroll referencing a "Rite of Renewal." Rainbow later joined her and found a book on the infamous thieves’ guild, The Gilded Gallows, taking notes on its tattoo system and poisons.
Dezzy questioned Runara about the kobold bandits, who rejected the cloister’s peaceful teachings, and learned of an unnatural force tied to an ancient shipwreck on the northwest end of the island. The wreck’s dead were said to haunt the waters.
Zaruk ventured to a temple and learned about Narthus, a priest of the twin-headed dragon goddess Drakor. Drakor embodies wisdom and humility through Drakoris and ambition and greed through Drakoth, balancing opposing forces.
Meanwhile, Rainbow and Dez discovered a pulley system in the winch house and decided to test it—Dez lowering Rainbow into the water below. Rainbow found remnants of a very old shipwreck and salvaged a chest, recovering gold pieces, a mage armor scroll (gifted to Dez), a damaged knife, and a small locket.

Ghostly Waters

The party boarded a small rowboat, navigating to the shipwreck Runara had mentioned. Dezzy took the lead, following whispers only she could hear, and guided the boat to its destination. Once there, Rainbow explored the sea tethered to Ioane, while Dez ventured into the lower decks.
Her curiosity led to trouble as zombies and a ghoul emerged to attack. Dez quickly retreated to call for help. The party rallied, working together to eliminate the undead threats. With the enemies defeated, Ioane noted a chest below a hole in the deck, leaving the group eager to uncover what secrets and dangers still lurk within the wreckage.
