Stormwreck Session 1

General Summary

Igmusday, Velnir 17, 472 HE

Our journey began on The Vigilant Hope, a ship laden not only with supplies but with the invisible cargo of dreams, hopes, and perhaps a touch of seasickness. At the helm stood Captain Thalric Stoneborn, steadfast and bronze-scaled, ferrying refugees escaping the shadow of Jou'lunn's oppressive grasp. Ahead lay Stormwreck Isle—a rugged beacon of potential fresh starts.   Among the passengers was Ioane, a former soldier of Eouma looking to rewrite the pages of her story. Then there was Rainbow Stormflower, a self-proclaimed Human with a shopping list and nowhere to shop. Introductions were made, conversations sparked, and Rainbow's dreams of boutique shopping were promptly dashed (much to everyone's amusement).   The island, all crags and cliffs with whispers of hidden chambers, loomed closer as we fueled up in the ship's kitchen. Brynn Ironspoon, the gnome chef with a knack for hearty meals and pottery, served up steaming plates. Rainbow, now Brynn's honorary taste-tester, dug in with gusto while Zaruk brooded and sharpened his axe. You could say the atmosphere was... cutting.   Landfall at the cove brought more than just scenic views; a temple adorned with dragons overlooked us, its stony eyes seeming to judge. The dark clouds on the horizon weren’t exactly rolling out a welcome mat, either. While the crew prepared the longboat, Dezzy, with her cosmic dice luck (Nat 20 on her first roll, folks!), enlightened us: this isle held a cloister where seekers paused, but most passed through to the fiery expanse of Drakoria—a realm birthed by a Dragon goddess.   Our landing party was greeted not by fanfare but by a swarm of kobolds whose job description seemed to include both enthusiastic helping and abandoning ship at the first sign of danger. Cue the gurgling moan—zombies, saltwater-soaked and eager for company. Battle ensued, Zaruk flirted with the specter of death, but we triumphed. The kobolds reemerged with questions, oh so many questions, more curious than cautious.   Then came Elder Runara, the cloister's leader. A woman with kind eyes and a knack for reading souls, she addressed each of us like she already knew our deepest thoughts. Ioane, seeking rest and redemption; Zaruk, needing to temper his storm; Rainbow, whose secrets seemed to hum in the air; and Dezzy, an enigma wrapped in moonlight and shadow, who Runara asked if whispers guided her path.   After a well-earned rest, we met Tarak, a man marked by both freckles and a mysterious past. He spoke of healing and ingredients lost to guarded caverns now infested by myconids—mushroom folk who were once friendly but had become guarded. Heartcap mushrooms were the key, but their guardian was not one to offer tea and cookies. The path would take two hours, best undertaken at low tide to avoid an impromptu swim.   Plans were made: set out at 10, arrive by noon, and hopefully not become the next chapter in Stormwreck’s long, storied history.
