An Everlasting Consciousness

The Dakrius is a massive being that controls the Dakrius Drakes. They all have one mind that has existed for many millennia. The capacity of their mind is unknown and seemingly has no limits to its abilities. Despite their intelligence they are a very primitive species, they don't build buildings and they don't have space travel. They lack opposable thumbs to wield weapons or navigate button based computers. If they could evolve to do space travel... it would be the end of all things

Anatomy

The Dakrius Drake has multiple different physical forms dependant on there jobs.

Dakrius Drake Worker

Dakrius Drake Worker build the hive and repair damaged sections, dig the holes into the surface and build a protective shells around their young. They have six limbs and can spit a gel from their mouth which hardens into a strong material used as shielding and construction. There are many different chemical compositions for the gel that they produce and when it evaporates it makes a toxic gas poisonous to the Dakrius Drakes so it is funneled out of the hive up into the surface threw giant holes.

Dakrius Drake Soldier

The Dakrius Drake Soldier is a large creature with two huge wings that allow it to move about the surface quickly. They are also capable of rapidly sending a series of electronic pulses which hurts nearby creatures and disrupts electronics. They have four massive claws which slice through their enemies.

Dakrius Drake Alpha

The Dakrius Drake Alpha is the most powerful Dakrius Drake. They serve as the hands of The Dakrius and lead the hive. Without an alpha the hive starts to break down. When an Alpha dies the Dakrius Drake Scavengers bring its corpse back to the hive where it turns into another Alpha

Dakrius Drake Scavenger

The most specialized of the Dakrius Drakes are the Scavengers. Being the only ones not affected by the toxins produced by the Workers they travel to the service to scavenge for food. Any plants and animals that have the misfortune of being found by one are killed or uprooted and carried back to the hive to be turned into food by the workers.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Dakrius Drake Alpha can eject eggs out threw flaps in their necks. Once the eggs were laid by the Alpha the Dakrius Drake Workers cover the egg in a protective gel that evaporates by the time that they are fully grown. When an Alpha lays an egg and a Worker covers it in a gel thats chemical composition effect what kind of Dakrius Drake it grows into, these eggs can never grow into Alphas. There can only be one Alpha and if the alpha dies the Dakrius Drake Scavengers collect the corpse and the Workers cover it in a gel that cause an alpha to grow out of the corpse.

Growth Rate & Stages

The Dakrius Drake becomes an egg and grows to a size relative to the chemical composition of the gel used to protect them.

Ecology and Habitats

The Dakrius Drakes burrow deep below the earth and construct a massive cavern. They cover the walls in the protective gel to keep out other burrowing monsters.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Dakrius Drakes build sections of the hive as storage rooms for their processed food.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Dakrius Drakes have twelve eyes, six on each side of the head. They can emit a controlled soundwave which reverberates off of nearby surfaces. They can see in the dark do to their eyes adjusting to life underneath the surface with minimal light
