Renault was a wealthy daughter of Vapidis Nuxhall, a high ranking baron of the famous family living in Penthos. As a rebellious teenager she ran away from the city expecting her family to recover her and reward her with what she wanted. This was a spoiled rich kid miscalculation as she rented a carriage and went north to Tellenor. From there she enjoyed a dalliance with one of the duke's nephews and went farther still to Vellen Falls. Her and the boy, Ricci Kerrigan, ran through their gold quickly on clubs, hotel rooms, and gambling. Both desperate for their families to save them were instead ignored and cast out. Ricci left Polista the next morning and joined a group of sailors heading to Lamborginus. Polista now broke and terrified saw a flyer for the EMP. She rode with a supply caravan to the Eigerlands and joined up. With her background she was easily warped by Torquemada and made into an adherent of Iron.
