Graving'Knoll Viendall
It is said that many ages ago lived the great wizard and artificer Graving'Knoll Viendall. A talented half-elven dwarfkind he inherited a forge of great stature from his family. The ancient stories all say that he defeated his hated father and took control of the forge as well as the great castle and lands that it sat upon. The many lives that were given that day during that bloody battle seeped into the forge giving it unsurpassed power. Ruling over this area for a century Viendall became more and more angry with the gods and their interference in mortal affairs. This feeling was enhanced by a chance meeting with the fallen known as Glorian.

Personal history
Graving'Knoll Viendall was the son of an adventuring couple near the middle of the second age. His mother was an elven woman from House Viendall by the name of Nelligan Viendall, who left her family still in her 80th year in an act of rebellion. She traveled forth from the Forest Realms into the Ancient Eigerlands. There she began traveling with a band of outcasts all trying to escape their pasts. She formed the strongest attachment to the Dwarven Warrior known as Uostabar Graving.
As they fought together and traveled the lands looking for adventure they eventually fell in love. This of course produced their one son but also caused both of them to be exiled from their homelands. They left their group to raise their son Graving'Knoll and were content for the first decade.
Settling in the town of Warshaw to stay under the radar they bought a house on the lake and became fisher folk. The next year some of their old enemies caught up with them slaying Uostabar. Nelligan fled to Helletowne with Graving'Knoll in tow before she succumbed to her injuries. There in Helletowne the young man was put into a foster home and went to school.
He excelled in his studies and began to research his heritage. It turned out that the Graving family of Dwarves were a powerful forging family. Their forge was reputed to be magically enhanced and created some of the best armor and weapons ever created. His grandfather was the current patriarch and was a difficult man. His meeting with his grandfather was fraught and ugly. They clashed immediately but the Grandfather allowed the young half dwarf to stay on as a low tier assistant. This was acceptable by Graving'Knoll to a point but he began to sneak in late at night and use the forge for his own purposes. After a few years the two had a final clash. Using an axe forged by the great machinery there Graving'Knoll slew his grandfather in a titanic struggle.
He fled after that fearing retribution from the kingdom. During his travels he encountered many strange creatures and even some demigods. His experiences with gods and demigods were always terrifying and tragic. He learned to distrust them and be angry that such shallow creatures were granted such power. He thought on this subject all the time until finally he encountered a like minded individual who introduced himself as Glorian.
