Caster's Bane

While attuned to this weapon, whenever a spell is cast at the wielder, the wielder can use the sword to absorb the spell or parts of it. This longsword has a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it and while you are attuned to this longsword, it gains the light and finesse property. Protection from Magic. Whenever the wielder is the target of a spell attack or in the area of a spell's effect, they can use their reaction to absorb the spell or parts of it. If the spell is a single target spell and the spell attack would hit the wielder, the wielder can use their reaction to absorb the spell attack, completely unscathed. If the spell is an area of effect and the wielder is in the area of the spell, the wielder can use their reaction to protect themselves from the spell by absorbing the magic around them, taking no damage. The sword can only have one spell absorbed at a time and any spells absorbed by the sword not used after a minute of being absorbed are lost.
Magic Absorption. Whenever a creature that can cast spells and has spellslots is hit with this weapon or similar magical abilities , they must succeed on a DC 15 saving throw using their spellcasting ability modifier or respective ability modifier, or lose one available spellslot of the lowest level. If the lowest level of spellslots has none available, the creature loses the next highest level spellslot.
Magic Redirection. When a spell is absorbed by the sword, as an action the wielder can make a special ranged attack roll with the sword using the wielder's attack bonus with the sword with a range of 20/60. If this attack would hit the damage dealt is that of the absorb spell's and only deals the spell's damage, not its other effects. If the absorbed spell was an area of effect, then the damage of the special attack is half of the absorbed spell's damage.
