Bracers of Illusion
A powerful illusionist of House Quail originally developed these bracers, which enabled her to create multiple minor illusions at once. The bracers' power, though, extends far beyond illusions. It doubles and loops the quick contractions of energy that make up a cantrip and casts it again with no energy expenditure by the caster.
Researchers helping Cog: Silent Guest, a female tabaxi with light brown fur and golden eyes and Faint Snowflake, a male tabaxi with white fur and kind of a flat face. Both have been paid extra by Cog to research the bracers and the Compendium of Automatons.
History of the Bracers
Mina Ustenwold Quail was a duchess of Volen and married to an older man, the duke of Volen, known as Herreford Quail. She was a master of the school of illusion and once studied with the Assembly of the weave. She used minor illusions often in her time as duchess and caused many inter-house scandals with her affairs and night time antics. She developed the bracers to increase her powers when she decided to kill the duke and assume his power. This attempt was foiled by an Assembly of the Weave witchfinder who was alerted to the situation by a loyal valet to the Duke. In their final battle Mina channeled too much power through the bracers and caused them to overheat and be destroyed in an arcane explosion.
The formula to recreate these bracers was also discovered by Silent Guest. She presents you with two old pieces of parchment with lists of ingredients and diagrams. One is the notes of Mina herself and the second is an artificer she brought in to help her with construction. On the bottom of the artificers he notes that "Be careful with this alloy you have to use just the right amount of shard dust with the steel or these will overheat."
