Orromy

Orromy is the primarily religion of Astoria and Verona. It is a monotheistic religion based on the belief that Orrus is the sole god and creator of the universe. Neren is his prophet and the first man who was blessed by Orrus to attain theosis thorugh ascension. Followers of Orromy believe in a strict binary view of the world that all people are created with a soul and a body. The soul is feminine and immortal while the body is masculine and in its mortal state, imperfect. Only through theosis, the joining of the immortal soul with the immortal body of Orrus is true perfection achieved. This binary view lends itself to the belief that marriage is a form of theosis in the family where the male and female are joined together in their imperfect states. Also, this strict binary view means that any gender identification or physical appearance that doesn't match the norm are rejected. Androgeny in Orromy is seen as a corruption and androgenous people are often sentenced to death. In Astoria, they are slightly looser with their beliefs and tolerate the presence of transgender people and homosexuality only within the binary belief. In Verona, it is believed that there can only be male or female and that same-sex attraction is a perversion of the male and female binary created by Orrus. There have been religious wars fought over these two interpretations.
