Castra
Castra is a large city some four or five days travel from Woodriver. It is said to be one of the largest cities in the known world, and one of the wealthiest for its level. The reason is the presence of the Castra Dungeon around which the city is built. The dungeon attracts adventurers and is a source of treasure. The city has spells that allow it to detect when anyone over level five hundred comes within a few miles of the city - though they may be adjusting that figure.
Most of the ordinary streets are paved in relatively smooth cobblestone, with the main thoroughfares being paved in incredibly smooth, finely fitted sheets of rock. Magic is used extensively throughout the city, for example in fountains and streetlamps. The city has a sewer system.
Castra is composed of three major lobes from east to west, with the western lobe being the largest, and the eastern one the smallest. Walls circle the entire city, beyond which is verdant farmland with a few buildings. Walls also split each section of the city into four or five districts.
A large hill with high walls around it is situated in the central lobe, with a river flowing out of it through the city to the south. The dungeon is located at the hill and is the source of the river.
The eastern section of the city contains relatively few buildings, but the ones it does have are extravagant. The western section is more crowded and looks shabbier.
The gate fee to enter Castra is 10 copper for adventurers. This fee is reduced for people who live in the city long-term.
Current population is around 100,000 but this is growing rapidly following recent events. A ne district - currently unnamed - is being added to the north of the Dungeon District. Talyn owns a good deal of land in this area.
Foreigners are not allowed to purchase property in Castra.

History
Castra was razed to the ground nearly eight hundred years ago by a horde of dragonkin that emerged from the dungeon. It took nearly ten years to hunt down all of the dragonkin, and in the aftermath those who rebuilt Castra heavily fortified the dungeon, against both hordes or attackers from outside.
The defenses have been put to good use over the years, repelling at least five hordes, and one invading army which had penetrated the northern wall in an attempt to capture the dungeon.
