Session 2 - The Breah Bureaucracy.
Red Tape and Side Quests
General Summary
After the battle Andre decided to take Artorias to the temple of sunlight in the centre of town while the rest of us tried to get the safe open.
Astraea spoke the wrong word and was flung across the room along with Hanurak but Faen spoke correctly and the safe opened with valuable gems and coins which were taken and shared while Hanurak took the great sword. There was also a clockwork amulet, a scroll containing the spell magic mouth which Faen took and a notebook which was a diary of Jora's detailing how he met Niara and started meeting her regularly which eventually led to him writing a divorce letter to his wife Missa.
Unfortunately before we could leave 3 blue coats (guards of the city) entered and tried taking us into custody while we decided to flee into the next room. We were flung into prison for the illegal use of magic and breaking and entering.
While all this was going on Andre had arrived at the temple and Artorias was taken to be healed by the other Paladins. When questioned Andre gave little away only seeming to confuse the priests there so he was taken to Ninki a dragonborn who after giving him water with a truth serum in it did he finally tell what had actually occurred.
Back at the prison Hanurak, Faen and Astraea awoke to find themselves in a bare cell. They decided to try and escape and find their equipment as they had realise they were all in their underwear, Hanurak sporting very fetching furry He Man pants. Hanurak pulls the cell door off its hinges which awakens the guard but he quickly threw the cell door at the guard knocking his prone. Astraea grabs the cell keys from the guard and Faen examines one of the exits seeing it leads to a corridor with more cells while the other exit seems to lead onto a waiting area where they can see more guards.
We discover an Orc called Crood who claims he is innocent of killing his wife who he claims was stabbed by an ornate dagger. Just as we release him so he can help us escape Ninkie and Andre come through the door and we are shocked to see our short friend. Astraea speaks to Ninkie and discovers that the temple of Gwyn Sunsword has been desecrated and the Paladins sent there had failed to return. For releasing us and returning our possessions we agree to look into the matter. We also decide to look for Saresh Foon of the Volt who may know more.
Arriving at the Two Brewers after speaking to Artorias, Andre attempts to speak to the patrons only upsetting them by insulting them deeply. He insults Saresh by asking if she is a man or a woman and then demanding she stays when she attempts to leave the table which leads to him being kidnapped. When he see that he has disappeared Hanurak and Faen track his heel prints to a hidden door in a wall and try to figure out how to open it. Astraea speaks to Saresh and attempts to make peace. We learn that the Volt have captured a live lycanthrope and questioned it. It spoke of a warlord who was taking over the temple of the sun we also learn that Saresh was impersonated by a doppelgänger but he got away so we are tasked with tracking him in exchange for information and Andre.
The party decides to split up with Faen and Astraea attempting to gain magic permits at the library where they are caught up in red tape. While Andre and Hanurak head to the Lovers Purse to find Niarra. Once there Andre gets drunk on water, wine and chocolate. While Hanurak speaks to the owner and after a uncomfortable conversation finds out that Niarra is having a leaving party tomorrow night which Jora is invited to.
Back at the tavern Astraea and Hanurak look for referees for the permits while Faen works on a spell and Andre sleeps it off. They head to Ninki and she vouches for them along with Artorias after some persuasion. Ninki also gives us a medallion so we can freely leave and enter the city.
We then head to Garth's Glorious Goods where we finally managed to get his name and a completed magic permit after agreeing to becoming walking billboards for his store. Finally back at the tavern Faen and Hanurak come up with the plan to get into the party. Their idea is for Faen to disguise himself as Jora and take Hanurak as his plus one. Can't see this ending badly.
