Wizards of Pall Dread

The wizards of Pall Dread are, or were, a secretive cabal of mages whose focus was magical research. Despite the name they were responsible for no great attrocities or wrongdoing, and their agenda was not actively malicious. Rather, they were indifferent to any suffering or other unforseen consequences brought about by their work. They percieve knowledge of magic to be so lofty a goal that the end justifies any and all means.

Culture

The wizards of Pall Dread appeared to take the approach that if a thing seemed possible, they should try to do it to prove that it was, or was not, and damn the consequences. Various artefacts, spells and monsters that litter the world are attributed to them , rightly or wrongly.

History

The wizards of Pall Dread formed around 100AC, or at least tales of their existance seem to begin then. Those recruited into the order were not neccessarily the brightest, but the most willing to experiment.

Disbandment

It is not completely clear what happened to the wizards of Pall Drad, but they seemed to dissapear around the time of the dark elf invasion. Some claim that they died, fighting the dark elves, others say they fled. A more likely explanation is simply that they chose to join Sorcerers Rock when it was founded after the war with the dark elves.
