Aldrim

Aldremere is the most recent nation to have fallen to the Empire, a mere thirty years ago. Many of the older inhabitants are still unhappy with the imperial presence there. The people are a gruff, outdoors sort for the most part, Aldremere’s cities being notably underdeveloped until the empire’s arrival. The folk of Aldremere have a strong tradition of oral storytelling, and with so many inhostpitable winters, most folk grow up well versed in their nations history. A typical Aldrim is more accustomed to fighting with an axe than other weapons, and they are notably good at training and managing animals. Detractors of the Aldrim cast them as uncultured and backward, lacking in discipline and prone to holding grudges.

Culture and cultural heritage

Aldrim have taken welll to theatre, but dislike anything more highbrow. Singing is well received, but the Aldrim like songs that they can join in. An exception will be made for bards who can play the harp, who hold a special place in Aldrim tradition.   The Aldrim are a relatively new addition to the empire, and many older folk still recall the old times when the druids held sway and lecture the young about how much better everything was then.

Common Etiquette rules

It is common in Aldremre to address ones friends in the most vulgar terms possible, so as to illustrate the strength and depth of the friendship.

Common Dress code

Adrim favour warm woolen clothing and cloaks made of hide to keep the rain off. Among the upper classes men tend to still wear dark coloured practical clothing such as leather boots, leggings and jerkins. Women adopt more colourful dresses akin to those of Beuland.

Art & Architecture

Most Aldrim buildings are wooden, with only important ones being constructed of stone. Most buildings tend to be practical in nature, with little ornamentation. Anyone adding anything fancy to their building is assumed to be trying to make a point. Art is not commonplace in Aldremere, save perhaps woodcarving which is a popular fireside passtime.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

The Aldrim have begun to come around to the idea of trusting Demeter to handle birth rights, though many older folk still go on about the days of the druids.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Morkana is invoked to handle funeral rights. Some Aldrim choose to burn their dead, others prefer to bury them.
