The Laws of Tallamh
Existence is the result of the superpositon of 3 "states of being", 3 orthogonal realms, or dimensions of existence if you prefer. The physical realm is the realm of space and substance, this is the realm ruled by physics and where objects have mass and velocity. The Spiritual realm is the realm of divinity and the soul, where things exist similarly to Plato's Forms, many in the world call these things souls, which are eternal and extremely difficult to change. The Cognitive realm is the realm of the mind and ideas. Space does not exist in the cognitive realm, rather all ideas exist and are connected to one another in a sea/web of ideas. The stronger the association between two ideas or concepts the better connected they are in the cognitive realm. A mind is the emergent behavior of many connected ideas, memories, and thoughts. The connections between dreams, ideas, memories, thoughts and others are collectively known as the Weave and manipulation of the Weave results in what the people of Tallamh call Magic.
Different planes of existence within the multiverse have different balances of each dimension, some veering more towards the divine (Such as Celestia, Asgard, The Hells, , and Hades), some veering towards the physical (The Elemental planes, Mechanus, Limbo), and some towards the Cognitive (Arcadia, Arborea, Pandemonium, The Abyss, Acheron). Tallamh rest at the perfect balance of these three realms, the origin, and hence is known as the prime material.
Forces in one realm can effect forces in other realms. The brain effects the mind, the mind directs the brain, the soul weighs upon the mind and acts the blueprint for the body to heal. The realms are orthogonal but not independent. "Magic" usually occurs by permanently or temporarily effecting the Weave or the Divine.
Cosmology
AO the Overgod is a gardener. Complete, AO could not grow. AO took pieces of himself, but parts of the whole, that were not the same as him but were of him, and he nurtured these small things to let them grow. He exposed them to differences so they would be different. These small pieces of himself were the seeds of world trees. AO sang to his trees in the words of creation, each tree its own songs. AO planted and tends to Yggsdrasil, the World Tree upon which Tallamh grows. Upon the fruits of the World Tree are the planes of existence. Yggsdrasil is one of AOs many trees, but he does care for the World and seeks to preserve it.
Principal Geography & Features
Tallamh is a Large Disc, shaped like two inverted dinner plates stacked atop one another. The Seas are prevented from flowing off the world by Jörmungandr the World Serpent. The Disk is held Aloft by Atlas, whose hands and arms can be seen on the underside of the world, known to the few on the top who know of it, as "the world below". These two worlds are connected by an enormous system of caves and subterranean caverns known as the Underdark.
Tallamh has two moons, one large and one small, though those moons were not always there. Tallamh has one Sun, though it has had many different Suns across its history. The Day is the same length as a Day on Earth, and marked as the time between Sunrises. Gravity on Tallamh is slightly about 80% of the gravity of earth despite Tallamh being well over 20 times the size of Earth, partially because gravity in the world of Tallamh is not inherently related to mass.
It incredibly geographically and biodiverse, owing partially to its large size and old age. There are innumerable fantastical locations, from floating mountain ranges, to lava falls, to gravity storms. While Yggsdrasil was planted by AO Tallamh was filled by the creations of countless individual powers and deities from the other worlds of Yggsdrasil, and as a result is as varied as its many creators are numerous. Climates like the most exotic places on earth and across fantasy can all likley be found somewhere, and often in numerous places, in Tallamh.
Initial Active Setting
Almost all of the stories we have told so far take place in the "upper world" and in the western half of Tallamh. Though travel to other sides of Tallamh and even other worlds is possible and somewhat common for powerful characters.
