Dockmaster Max

Dockmaster Max is a talented and organized leader in the employ of the City of Kalaman's governing council, and answers to Governor Calof Miat.

Description

An aging man, Max sports a scraggly and unkempt beard to go with his greasy grey hair. Always appearing overworked, Max keeps an array of documents on his person, often conveying information about the imports and exports out of the Kalaman port. Always moving from one place to another, Max is a busy worker with little to no time for chat.

Personality

After an extended lifetime, Caelthir's emotions have been buried deep underneath his apathetic exterior, though he has been known to show emotion in the company of friends. Due to his lifetime experience, Caelthir is rarely suprised at any turn of events, and often 'goes with the flow' on most matters, claiming them to be "trivial in the grand scheme of life".

Abilities

Despite being overworked, Max maintains an organized office detailing the imports and exports of the city he helps govern. His ability to see where and when items are being smuggled through the port is impeccable, and he has led many investigations into smuggling operations since the Red Dragon Army attack on Vogler. In the face of intense pressure of a burgeoning society and nearly-collapsing economy, Max shoulders the responsibility of trade with other active nations in order to keep the economy of Kalaman floating above water.

In his time as a Dockmaster, Max has found the Pachovan people to match his work ethic. Since gaining his position, it is no secret that he favors Pachovan workers for their tenacity and quality of work, often preferring them over other races when recruiting for jobs on the docks. Because of this, a large Pachovan population can be found living near the Kalaman docks at any given time, often looking for work from the generous Dockmaster.

Enemies

As most political offices go, Dockmaster Max probably made enemies when running for the position, but has since been a friend to the city of Kalaman and has performed great services for it. Until recently, no one in office harbored any resentment towards him, until his recent murder by Sir Caradoc.

History

Dockmaster Max has been the Dockmaster of Kalaman for quite some time, stretching far back beyond the Red Dragon Army attack on Vogler. Since then, the job has worn his body and patience thin, though he still strives to better Kalaman by engaging in legal, beneficial trade with other nations and cities. After the Red Dragon Army attacked Vogler and refugees were brought across the waterways, Dockmaster Max took on a great responsibility in assisting with giving jobs to the newcomers who had a talent for fishing. Unfortunately, all of his hard work was paid by a visit of Sir Caradoc, a ghostly ancient Knight of Solamnia in the service of Lord Soth, who would take Dockmaster Max's life in the Meeting Hall of Castle Kalaman after a verbal disagreement.
