Summer Camp 2022 in Talitha Harbor | World Anvil

Summer Camp 2022

Results??

Well, I manage to make bronze, barely. I was literally watching the clock tick down, haha. I am writing a novel series that takes place in this world as well and right now that is where my muse is. When I'm done with my current WIP, though, I'm going to try and force myself to focus here. We'll see if it happens. ha.
For now, though, I did do those nine articles and you can read them here:

Overall Goals

Creative Goal:

The biggest goal is to get back into updating my world Wiki/World Anvil. I want to have something cohesive to share with people when telling them about my world. Though originally started so I had a backdrop for a novel, it's grown into a much bigger project. That novel is now a series plus I simply love building Talitha Harbor. I am hoping to have it mostly realistic, but I am also going to take a little creative license here and there.

Motivation:

I'm a sucker for challenges... That and the goal above. A few things have changed since I started this project and then started writing the series. Working with them both in tandem gives me a more fleshed out and useable world.

Goal:

I am going to keep it at Silver.. though that might be pushing it. I also want to NaNo my novel a bit and I will have family visiting for two weeks. So, we'll see how much I can blast out when family isn't here (or when they sleep, haha).

Themes

Expanse

I have put some thought into my main city and the, "new," one that's being built in the timeline of my second novel. But, I have two more Great Cities with only a few details thought out. This would be a good time to build them more fully. I plan on bring them in during my third or fourth (depending on where three goes) novel. So, I will need more at some point. Even if they don't get a big show, I do like world building simply for the sake of world building.

Leadership

The biggest thing that I want to work on is defining their credo and government architecture on World Anvil. Partially because I'm hoping to get some people to read (when it's completed) and point out anything that doesn't sound like it would work. I built the entire thing from the ground up, so I want to make sure it makes sense to someone other than myself.

Discovery

This will be good for further developing their new fourth city (or at least little hints so there are not too many spoilers) or putting in some lore. It's a planet that humans from Earth landed on in the far future. There would have been a lot of discovery early on. I have a few history articles, but my world can definitely use a lot more of that backstory stuff.

Monstrous

I don't know if I will get to a lot in this category. Most of my, "monstrous," things will probably show up more in my novels verse the World wiki. But, I could make some dangerous creatures and plants. Their society attempts to balance equity and environmentalism already. In their minds, at least, there isn't anything monstrous in the system. They have put in a lot effort to keep the monsters out (which is part of the plot in book one). If I do get this far, though, it will be interesting to see how I can fit them in.   I am also saying right now, in type, I'm not going to use this category to start the second world that's been trying to creep it's way out of the back of my head. I already have enough projects right now!
Me to Me:
Behave Desdemona   (It's full of dark and wonderous things)

Media

Talitha Harbor in my head is fairly different than photos that I've been able to find so far. Eventually I want to draw it all out, but that is a future project.   * You can see one of my started sketch projects below (I put a filter on it so it fit a little better). The flower with the blue and white petals is the Marjallo Flowering Plant. The rest is just from Pintrest or Canvas' stock photo collection with a few filters applied here and there.   * The cathedral pictured is inspiration for the City of Anunitum Fortress (an article that needs a lot of corrections). It will not look exactly like that, but the shape is loosely inspired. The Fortress is a meld of the original Talitha (the space ship that brought them there) and stone/rock mined from the extinct volcano that they built it into. It's part building, part drilled into volcano.

Nice, simple, cozy little article! I like that you aren't at all pushing yourself too hard. Family does indeed come first, so it's great you're making time for them. Also, I know the feeling about getting dragged into other projects lol ^v^ I used to publish short stories because I couldn't stick with one idea for very long. I have all these characters, worlds, and storylines in my head! They're always jumping out; "work on ME!" "NO! Over HERE!" XD so don't be afraid to work a teeny bit in a new world. You can only bring out the monsters with the challenge and that's it. Or, you can talk about monsters in Talitha Harbor world that they worked hard to drive out. Do you know much about those? That can be something to explore. Also, monsters don't have to be real beasts. They can be mean people or villains. :P whatver you choose, I pray the best! God bless and much success with July irl and creatively in-world.

Thanks for reading. If I make it that far maybe I'll, "treat," myself with the new world. It would be an interesting dynamic because it's almost a complete opposite to my current world. I like reading suspense/horror and started thinking of an alternative version of our world where I could fit in some supernatural creatures, kind of a secret underground where a whole list of creatures found in myths exist. There is still just Earth/Humans as they are now. But, mythical Earth instead of Sci-fi distant planet, hehe.

Interesting! and treating yourself is cool. Sounds like a plan. :)
