Land Transportation Vehicle in Talitha Harbor | World Anvil

Land Transportation

Talitha only uses transportation that can be fueled by human power or renewable energy. Most vehicles and other forms of transportation are not owned by any individual, but instead are used communally. There are a few who have decided to use their saved credits to build their own mode of transportation, and these are owned by the creator. There is not, however, a shop or other form of business that sells them as a mass produced commodity. The public vehicles are maintained by those in the Transportation Vocation.

Commodity Transport Vehicles

Goods are moved from place to place in small truck or van like vehicles. Regardless of their shape, they are all called Bolt Trucks. They consist of the storage area and two seats. They are simple solar powered vehicles that will go from 45 to 85 km/h depending on how heavy their load is. All of the vehicles are made the same. They are a light beige color due to most of the body being made of a mycelium-based bioplastic. They have a rounded aerodynamic front and a covered or uncovered storage area in the back. There are also edges along the back sides that also make it more aerodynamic and energy efficient. These vehicles are made in limited quantities due to their size and materials required to produce. It is very rare to find someone who personally owns one.

Human Transportation Vehicles

These come in various sizes, there are small ones which are used by individuals who need them for mobility purposes. These smaller Mobility Chairs do come with the option of adding a carrying basket so they can transport goods with them if needed. They can also remove the basket for easier maneuvering in smaller spaces, or when they just don't need them. These who use mobility chairs do have these assigned to them and will have their own until it is no longer needed or there is a malfunction. Then the chair is repaired or replaced depending on the severity. These also come in a few different sizes for easier use for smaller or younger individuals, and accommodation for larger individuals.   There are also two person and four person vehicles. They were originally named Sol Carriages due to their use of solar power and a designer wanting to sound quaint. However, over time they have been simplified to Solcars and are called that almost universally. Those who have heard the name Sol Carriage, and find it appealing, will sometimes use that name instead.   Most Talithan's work within easy walking distance from their homes, so vehicle transportation is not needed on a daily basis. People who find walking physically challenging will already have a mobility chair. There are also Cycles for those who want a more physically challenging mode of transportation, or the simple joy of riding one.

Cycles

These come in several models and are the most common privately owned conveyance. Though, there are also publicly owned cycles as well. Unlike the other vehicles, these are available for purchase with credits. They can also be found in the trade and barter system. Cycles that are made for public use are all unpainted. Their frame is the same color as the Solcars and Bolt Trucks. Any cycles or cycle parts made for purchase are mixed with a white dye. One can paint them any color that they want. However, if it is suspected that a public cycle has been stolen and painted, then the paint can be chipped off and the person found out.   Cycles come in both a two, three, and four wheel form. The three wheel is the most popular since it offers a seat that one can comfortably sit back on and turns better than the four wheel. However, the four wheel is good for those who want to transport things with them. The frame allows for the addition of several storage containers. These are more popular in Pangu where the terrain is flatter. Though they are intended to be powered by the pedals, many do come with small solar powered engines. However, most don't have batteries and only work when there is sun. They do not go as fast as the Solcars either.
