Fringe Reef Arch Building / Landmark in Talitha Harbor | World Anvil

Fringe Reef Arch

A long arching bridge that spans over a large bay and connects the mainland to a small island. The island is a protected area with a variety of native fauna and the planet's anthropod and bug like creatures. The bridge itself was made more than 700 years ago out of the native rock and is a dark gray in color. It is the same color as the large Orion fortress that dominates the mainland, a fortress that can be seen in the distance.   The bridge is in the shape of a giant arch, though it's long enough that the incline up and back down is comfortable for most to walk on. It is a wide bridge that can fit four average adults across comfortably and one can often see people looking over the side and watching the sealife below.

Purpose / Function

The bridge was built to serve as a place for the local citizens to relax and see the local wildlife and fauna. It was built to remind everyone why they must preserve the planet's natural ecology. It is a very scenic and beautiful area and serves the purpose well. Some couples and polyamorist groups have chosen to announce their official partnership or partnerships on the bridge. Some have even used it to announce their choice to start a family. Every twenty years there is a ceremony to celebrate the creation of the bridge and re-highlight the amazing life that live near it.

Architecture

The bridge is a long single arch bridge that connects from land to land. It is made of a native stone like substance that has proven to be very strong and long lasting. It was made from a single piece that was cut from the ground while the the powerful tools brought by the original colonists were still properly functioning. It would be possible for the current people to create another, but it would take a lot more work than the original creation did. The stone was cut from the same mountain that the large Orion fortress was built into.
