Human

Depending on which source you consider relevant Humans can be considered a single species with many subspecies loosely grouped into several groups of similar ethnicities or multiple species each with an independant set of subspecies. The discrepancy in classification amongst seperate scientific communities is due to their abnormal herritage, however all major schools of thought on the matter agree that Humans are defined by their Astral heritage.   Whether or not they are regarded as one species or a handful of closely related species, Humans are without a doubt the most populace group in Tor'saarn and are the only sizeable sentient population on Ravenna, having spread farther across Talirim's surface than any other sentient creature. Their success is often attributed to their heritage, as most modern human are descended from the full swathe of Astral-Molded races, however more spiritual individuals may claim their seemingly boundless potential is due to the remnants of their Astral heritage.

From Demi-gods to Mortals

Humanity as it stands in contemporary Talirim is a wide grouping of mortal ethnic groupings descended from the Astrals, a race of powerful immortal elementalists that existed before the gods rose to power against the Titans. The earliest population of anything resembling humanity were the Demi-Astrals, individuals born to an Astral parent and any 'Astral-Molded' race (Astral-Molded races are any that are physiologicaly similar to the Astrals). When a large enough populace of Demi-Astrals existed and began to intermarry the resulting children would stabilise over numerous generations into one group called the Keds, who are considered the first Humans by some, or Humanities predecessors by others.   The Keds and Astrals would be forced to further diversify after they were brought to Talirim as three seperate populations. Sar'aan would bring a small population of Astrals to the isles west of Tor'Saarn, where they would survive the Titan's wrath at the cost of their mortality and live alongside and intermarry with their Ked bretheren giving rise to the predecessors of the Tiorathan people. In West Tor'Saarn a large number of Keds would be settled and become the Wildmen, and after intermingling with early Tiorathans become modern men.   Unknown to the people of Tor'Saarn the god Ravenan would return to the Titan Realms, the original home of the Astrals to save the Keds who fought alongside him during the The Astral Crusade, sacrificing himself to save them from the Influencer general Taal. However due to Taal's interferance they were unable to reach Tor'Saarn, instead landing on the unfinished, smaller continent of Ravenna. Believing themselves the only survivors of the war they mourned the loss of Ravenan, who according to them was the last surviving god. These people would become the 'east men', or simply men to themselves.

Classification

There are numerous classification systems for Humans, However for the purpose of simplicity the Tiorathan system will be used from now on unless explicitly stated. According to Tiorath Humans are divided into five species historically under the genus Vostir, though some radical thinkers have proposed a sixth based on rumours of crashed ships filled with abnormal human bodies in the Stranded Easts.
