Bendhaven

A continent in the world of Talidor running from the temperate north to the equator. Bendhaven was home to only the orcs until the Purification. Then, for several years, during and immediately after the Purification, tens of thousands of refugees from other parts Talidor of arrived on the shores of Bendhaven.

Geography

A vast mountain range called the Seawall runs the entire length of the eastern border of the continent, from north to south, creating a wall with only a few breaks where rivers cascade down falls into the ocean and only a few locations allow for safe harbors.   There are seven major geographic regions of the continent of Bendhaven. From north to south including the southernmost islands:   The Far North - In the far north of Bendhaven, a ship can sail around the North End of the continent, but mariners who have sailed the dangerous waters around that area cite risk of storms and ships have been lost there. Explorers have pushed inland as far as Lake Pall. The nations of Mervall, Mand and Stormwall make up the civilized lands of the Far North. This region sees warm summer, pronounced spring and fall and cold, snowy winter.   The North - A thin strip of nations running from the Far North south to the Goodlands, this region is perfect for farming grains and other food crops with plenty of fruiting plants. Thulland, Dovin, and New Ga-In hug the coast, while New Torrwin encompasses a large temperate forest inland. Explorers have followed the Broad River from the coast up to the lake in the Far North. In general this region sees hot summer, mild spring and fall and a short cold winter.   The Goodlands - The central, region of the continent is the most populated. Bounded on the east and west by rugged mountain ranges, only a few viable ports provide access to the ocean, making overland travel more convenient in most cases, but with little to no access westward. Piney forests in the north and along the heights of both mountain ranges give way to a central plain of wild grasses and grains dotted with small deciduous forests and marshlands and the occasional rolling hills. Genland, Lumvenwer, New Bendon, Kingdom of New Sedona , and Kalatha occupy almost all of the explored areas of the Goodlands. This region sees long, hot summer, short spring and fall and mild winter.   The South - Near the equator, Bendhaven widens to the east of the mountains where a year-round, prevailing, easterly trade wind brings heavy rainfall and powerful storms as it collides with the mountainous wall. Dominated by one large jungle, small rain forests are sprinkled across this southernmost portion of the continent all the way to the tip. The two countries of Diboll and Meventine are isolated outposts here, where explorers have been stopped by a harsh desert in the west and dangerous animals in the south. It is hot and humid year round; there is little to no seasonal change here.   The Jungle Islands - At least two large islands and dozens of smaller islands make up this tropical archipelago south of the mainland. The island country of Parna is located here. Explorers have not found all of the islands in the swift currents of these seas. The islands are covered in dense jungle. Located on the equator - there are no seasons here, just heavy rains in the rainy season giving way to daily drizzles and showers in a sort of dry season.   The Barrens - A vast area in the west of the continent, the Barrens is a general term to encompass a region of badlands and unexplored territory. Infested with orcs and giants, the only non-evil race to thrive here is the goblins. This region is generally avoided and remains largely unexplored. It borders the Far North, the North and the Goodlands.   The Copper Desert - A vast area in the southwest of the continent, the Copper Desert is an unexplored sea of sand and rock apparently devoid of plant and animal life. The desert borders both the Goodlands and the South.
