Oh My God. It Smells So GOOD.

General Summary

Marpenoth 18, Year of Rogue Dragons Taking the northern passage, the party soon finds itself at the edge of an underground pool. As they inspect the pool three chuul erupt out of the water, eager for their next meal.   With the chuuls defeated, the party heads southeast, through twisting and turning tunnels that range between 5 to 10 feet wide. After a few minutes, they came upon a guard post manned by extremely large derro and a stone troll. What the derro gained in size, they lacked in intelligence, acting almost like wild animals. The battle was difficult, but the party emerged victorious by bloody.   Heading back to the underground pool, the party continued east. After a few minutes they come upon a rickety bridge over a chasm. Nicolas' dark sight reveals a huge mass of black goo moving at the bottom of the chasm, under the bridge. Having seen a black pudding before, they recognize the threat, but had never seen one so large. Fortunately another passage led south.   The southern passage eventually connected with the fungus-covered cave. Checking to see that the derro and their fungus-centipedes hadn't been disturbed, the party decides to check out the eastern passages this time.   To the southeast, they find the hatchery, tended by more derro on fungus-centipedes. At the back to the chamber was the derro savant who seemed to be in charge of the operation. Taking the blast of a fireball, which dropped Tybalt, the party engaged the derro breeders.   At this point, beaten up and bloodied, the party decided to go back to the guard post and take a rest. Under the dome of Leomund's Tiny Hut, cast by Halorin, they gathered their strength to continue on.   Just north of the breeding cave, they found another cave filled with deep pits. As they inspected the pits which were obviously prisons a monstrous creature known as a gug dropped down, blocking off their exit. One of the creations of the Great Old Ones, the gug surprised them with its ferocity in battle. It swallowed Reed and dropped Ulfgar before they were barely able to defeat it.   Not really having a purpose for resting, the party decided to check out the passage north of the holding pits, leaving the prisoners in the pits until they were ready to leave this cave complex. As they proceeded up a thin passage, the sounds of derro grew louder and louder. Soon they approached a dining chamber with at least a dozen derro. The battle was joined.
